Speculation: Roster Building Thread LXI - We are in The End Game now.

Kreider’s name has been out there for like two years now, so this isn’t too surprising.

I don’t think they’ll have to undersell on him despite the current cap situation, and I’m still expecting pretty fair value.

Everyone does that tbh. The question is whether there is a respectable enough offer tabled to make a very undesirable 2nd buyout avoidable.
 
I’m really not understanding why a buyout has not been announced. Can Gorton seriously have a deal for smith or shatty? Shattenkirk at half price I’m amazed hasn’t been jumped on.

Those are the two buy-out options. They aren't the only trade options though. Kreider, Strome, Namestnikov could be moves if they go down that route.

But one of those two have to go for roster spots alone. Shattenkirk in particular. You can’t hide him. He’s not going to be a 7 mil healthy scratch. He’s not going to go to the wing. You’re not going to play him against heavier teams. He’s a 4th on the depth chart on the right side and 2 of the guys do exactly what he does only better. He has zero value to this franchise right now.
 
If there is an offer for Kreider that is anything close to a typical deadline deal I think you take it right now

That’s of course if you’re taking the front office seriously about not wanting to do another sell off at the deadline.

Gotta think teams are asking as they know if it’s a descent offer they clear the cap space

I think Belesky is tagged onto Kreider . They can sell him as worth 6.5 combined

That Cano trade virtually blue up my current passion for the Mets.
Trading Kelenic, Dunn and Swarzak for Diaz, well, perhaps. But that drug taking old man cheater too? And paying $20+ mil a year for the pleasure, it will take the Mets winning it all before I forgive BVG for that assinine trade. And it smells of a backroom deal for an ex client... I can't stomach it.

They are clearly trying . They have till tomor ... something could come tonight if it’s a team like the ducks on the west coast
 
Maybe a Kreider deal is being held up because the team that wants him will only take him if he extends his contract. Something has to be brewing, either a trade and/or buyout has to be announced in the next 24 hours. A buyout is probably a last resort so very possible Kreider, Namestnikov and Strome are all being dangled right now for futures.
 
Nothing good can come out of a last minute trade like this right now. Who cares about the optics of the team selling at the deadline. If Hall is signed, Kreider will be the big fish barring injuries. This is most likely Brooks covering all possibilities if Shattenkirk doesn't get bought out.
