I haven’t been keeping up but I just wanted to make sure-the buyout window closes at 5 pm tomorrow right? Is it 100% that we’ll see at least something go down by that time?
Yes the window closes at 5pm tomorrow.I haven’t been keeping up but I just wanted to make sure-the buyout window closes at 5 pm tomorrow right? Is it 100% that we’ll see at least something go down by that time?
Pretty sure it's essentially 100% to see a buyout or trade. They can't watch the buyout window pass and not have a trade lined up to free up the space. They'd be in a very bad spot if they did that.
If the organization gave Larry the Shattenkirk buyout information to ensure a last minute improved offer for Kreider/Namestikov/Strome, then the buyout candidate is likely actually Shattenkirk.
Going to sleep in a bit. Hope to wake up to a pristine salary cap and no buyouts.Just under 9.5 hours to go...
4.25 for anyone not named Shattenkirk or Staal (or Lundqvist).Just under 9.5 hours to go...
Ugh I guess Shatty buyout then let Fast , Strome , Names walk next year coverage the ridiculous cap hit next year
I'm too lazy to do the entire (specially the precise) math, but the league atm has approx. 180 million in cap space all together*. Lots of big name RFA still unsigned (Werenski, Marner, Rantanen, McAvoy). Teams looking for cap relief won't find many teams left with any cap space, Ottawa and Columbus are teams that cleary will have cap space.
Toronto is already over the cap and they still haven't signed Marner ffs. Who will have to command something around 10M ...
Calgary has Tkachuk to sign and 4M in cap, that's not enough. Winnipeg's cap is gone the second they announce Laine and Connor's extensions.
Ultimately I did some of the math and found that the bulk of good RFA's left, can command around 100M of those aforementioned 180M.
So the league isn't entire ****ed for the moment.
*never counted bury-able contracts; nvm didn't account LTIR either lol specially in Toronto's case.
4.25 for anyone not named Shattenkirk or Staal (or Lundqvist).
