Brooks being silent means nothing other than there is nothing to report.

There is no being out for the Rangers until he signs with someone else. We aren't going to pull our offer off the table...he is free to accept it at anytime

Jeff made his offer and is willing to walk away...paranin is waiting hoping they will up the offer.

Eventually panarin will have to decide if he wants to be a ranger or if he wants to take the most $$ cause JG set his price and take it or leave it

The math is correct. This is what happens when you have the likes of Shattenkirk, Staal, and Smith eating up $16.7M in cap for the next two years.

Really hoping they don't go after Panarin. If they do, they're going to have to do something incredibly stupid to get rid of one or more of those contracts, be it buy out, or something else.

Edit: Also, Girardi's buyout gets better after this year, but it's also eating up $3.6M this season. If that's not a cautionary tale for signing D to contracts that extend past their very early 30s, I don;t know what is.

If trouba is arbitration eligible does that allow us to buyout shattenkirk at a later date if needed?

Feels like that math is wrong...

After waiving Smith and Belesky (who currently counts against the cap) they have about 20.3 in space.

I think his figures for the RFA's are correct

8 (Trouba)
3.5 (Buch)
2.5 (ADA)
1.25 (Lemieux)

15.25 total there.

5.05 in space left.

Essentially, you'd want to clear a bit more than bare minimum. Vesey, Namesnikov/Strome and Kreider (even at 50%) would do the trick.

Edit: These are the numbers with out Kravstov and Kakko. With them, 18.4 is correct from Brooks.

You can add Lundqvist to that first group.

I think the player actually has to get to Arbitration in order for the second window to open.

Shattenkirk isn't the guy to buy out though, his buy out savings next year are basically nothing due to a signing bonus. Smith would be the most likely candidate to be bought out if they get that 2nd window though it should be Staal.

Can we get Staal to mysteriously retire with a chronic case of jock itch or something?

No they just need to file.

You can debate the merits of paying a goalie elite money, and I probably wouldn't disagree with you, but I don't view Hank as a bad contract.

Also, I'd love to have Panarin if our cap situation were different. Assuming we can't move Shattenkirk/Staal/Smith, we should be taking on bad contracts for the next two years, not shipping them out (presumably with an asset).

Still think Carolina would take him plus DeHaan is gone on LD. Frosling is ok

I’m thinking he’s a Ranger soon . Better be 11 tops . Then it’s gonna be crazy cause guys are getting traded
I dont think he is a Ranger if their offer is $11 at the most. Not with what the Islanders and CBJ have been rumored to offer.
