They literally signed Spezza for league minimum, the situation is just fixing itself for them lol
I’m sure it’s cheap and adds a good veteran presence. Smart move as long as it’s a minimal cap hit.why?

Spezza is a winger (or should be a winger)
Seriously. All gorts has to do is ask trouba/agent to file so that the window opens. So they just have to file. Don’t have to actually go thru with arbitration correct?
Tony is not arbitration eligible. But that would be bad planning on Gorton's part anyway. Why practically beg someone to go file to get a buyout window when he could have bought someone out, if he wanted/needed to, two weeks ago? There is a reason though. Gorton could easily say hey tony go ahead and file for arbitration let’s wrap this deal up Saturday. Need a buyout window. Seems easy enough
Why? He's one of the best in the league on faceoffs and still really strong at driving play.

The follow up question would be: if trouba files but then resigns before the arbitration hearing, do the rangers lose access to the 2nd buyout period. Is it simply a guy filing or is it having a guy who filed and is scheduled to or will have an arbitration hearing?
(Also saying this before trouba files and half of rangerland starts having a panic attack bc of it)
