I just had this conversation with a friend a few hours ago. Not knocking the islanders but he said “ when is the last time any worth while free agent went to the islanders? It just doesn’t happen” I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s a ranger tomorrow at 12pm but I feel like the islanders will offer whatever they have to to get him.

This whole thing reeks of Rangers being tight lipped and standing pat on their offer that is lower than both Florida and the Islanders, but Panarin's camp is trying to use the media to stir up the price. Reporters are guessing because nothing spills out of NYR front office mouths ahead of time anymore. If he was going to Florida we would know, just like how we already know with Bobrovsky.
