f***ing TortsI'll never forget Haley-Newbury-Dorsett as the 4th line in the game Boston eliminated us in 2013.
With D pairs of Moore/Eminger and Del Zotto/Hamrlik.
And Taylor Pyatt getting 16 minutes of ice time (1 minute more than Zucc lol).

Yeah, like Lemieux being on three organizations, doesn't really tell you much. He was part of a mega-deal while still in junior hockey, and then he was the targeted young player in your standard rental deal. I've never heard any rumors of any issues with the player. He was just subject to standard movement that younger players sometimes face.
ADA, he obviously had some issues. The maturity questions, the coachability questions. We've been over it ad nauseum. His movement felt more "meaningful" than Lemieux's. Much like the original Tony D--Anthony Duclair. There was "stuff" that followed him around.
Lemieux, I don't think that's the case, at all.
It's almost as if... Wait for it... Context matters![]()
I am sure that making millions helped the situation.Wade played another year in the NHL after his Rangers contract was over. His situation was more about his cap hit than it was his ability to actually play at an NHL level. He retired at the right time and really made the best of a bad situation. He did think about retiring rather than playing in the AHL but he manned, swallowed his pride, and put his best foot forward for the 'Pack/Whale. He should get credit for handling it the way that he did.
I think that virtually no one wouldOf course it's not going to happen that way a whole lot, but I don't think any of us would rush into retiring early either - for the money, for the love of the game, for your teammates, etc...
Apparently there’s Patrik Laine trade discussions per Incarcerated Bob ( yes I know lol).
No one in Hartford had to pay for a meal while Redden was there, so there’s thatI am sure that making millions helped the situation.

Part of his penance for taking money he didn't deserve. No one in Hartford had to pay for a meal while Redden was there, so there’s that
Also, immediately after the rangers acquired him they had multiple calls from playoff teams wanting Lemieux if they were willing to flip him.
Redden had a positive influence on a lot of people in Hartford. Same goes for Drury in New York. Although they were no longer the players we expected them to be for the price tag they had, they certainly impacted the players around them in a positive way. Look up interviews with McDonagh, Sauer, Dubinsky, Callahan etc and they all say the same about those two
Stop being the voice of reason.
Astute observation as alwaysNo one in Hartford had to pay for a meal while Redden was there, so there’s that
Forgetting about the forward crunch, I would not be surprised if a player like that is signed to join Smith on the 4th line. I am not advocating for or against Haley. Just my belief that Quinn and Gorton would not object such a player on the 4th line. Their purpose in the line up is far different than other players.Been saying for a while I expected them to bring in some sort of scrapper but at least a tryout is non-committal.
I think that Haley being invited has absolutely nothing to do with Lemieux and is not intended as a message to him. His role is far different than being a 4th line thumper/protector. Haley, I believe, would serve a different purpose. Again, this is not me advocating for him or against him. It is the same reason there is a certain player (can't recall his name) who was invited to a try out. They serve different purposes. And Quinn is not AV and opposed to dressing such players. I think it would go in the vision of what he and Gorton are building. There is no need for skilled better prospects to play 6 minutes on the 4th line.I’m glad they invited Haley. Message sent. Get your ass in camp Brendan you aren’t as good as your father stop listening to him.
Eh, Wade was what, 31 when he signed? At 31 you're getting a contract based primarily on what you've done in the past. To that point, Wade had been great (even if he had been slipping and the Rangers didn't notice). Obviously there's an expectation that you'll perform at a high level moving forward wen you sign a deal like that, but I think it's a stretch to say he didn't deserve his deal. He wasn't worth the money in the end, but what he had done to that point earned him those bucks.Part of his penance for taking money he didn't deserve.
Someone was asleep at the wheel...no way he deserved that contract as his play started going downhill before he left Ottawa.Eh, Wade was what, 31 when he signed? I do believe that Quinn and Gorton will value such a player in the line up and would look for someone to skate alongside a Smith. And honestly, would not really have an issue with it.I think a guy like Haley is probably more of a pre-season guy to shoulder some of the thugs that inevitably get iced during these games by all teams. Beyond that I do think the Rangers will bring in some sort of tough guy somewhere. They've shown year after year that they do value having a player like that in the rotation and I don't expect that to change this season. Lemmy is a good agitator but he's not a guy who is going to go against a Tom Wilson or someone of that ilk.
