I wonder if Getzlaf would take a cheap 1 or 2 year deal. He’s past his prime and I doubt anyone’s giving him another big contract. He still has solid CF% and xGF% numbers relative to his team this year. Could be a solid stopgap center

Getzalf wants to stay in Anaheim. If he decides to keep playing , will be with the Ducks. Has said this many times.

Plus I don’t think he is the answer for the Rangers. Maybe go after one of their young 3C’s like Steel or Lundestrom if they are going to move Chytil up to 2c and move on from Strome. I think Steel needs a new atmosphere and Lundestrom is only 21 and showing a lot of potential to be a high end 3C, low end 2c.

I actually think if they could work out a deal with Zibanejad where he signs for much less than Barkov in FLA,

Zibanejad + Buch + Lundkvist + 1st.

We would be fine and that is overpayment and honestly probably what he would be worth to this team.

I just do not want to give up on Kakko & Miller.
People need to stop putting Zib in these deals. If they can’t sign Barkov how are they gonna sign him? They are not taking a guy with 1 year till UFA for him.

Just sayin' on the condition that they'd know they could work something out with Zib, I don't think they would have to pay him Barkov money. He fits their timeline better as they need to be going for it for the next few years. You're right though, if we don't pay him, Zib will command top dollar especially if he puts up 50 next year. Which I believe he can, but I'm terrified we're going to give him a big deal. We shouldn't.

Panthers coach may move to Seattle...plus weak schedule this year means Panthers are still the Panthers...Wait it out Barkov may go FA after being traded at deadline to a semi-contender.

And none of the above points are not fixable or abnormal in a rebuild situation.

Quinn was a major, but not fatal, mistake. The Rangers tried to find their own Brind'Amour but it failed, which happens.

Vets in their prime are a good protection for young rookies. Having vets like Panarin and Zib insulates you from being a Buffalo or NJ which is not a bad thing.

Kakko was a top 10 defensive forward at age 19-20, night and day compared to the previous season. Laf showed he was comfortable in the NHL towards the end. Miller took big strides. Jones showed promise. Chytil had good stats despite illness and injury. Kravtsov came in and showed talent. Fox had a Norris level season. Having kids not ready is part of a rebuild. If they were ready it would not be a rebuild.

The most crucial mistake was to expect a playoff run from this team, that's simply superficial thinking ignoring context. You can't just say, mid rebuild, that you got tired of being in a rebuild. Reality is that's where you are.

Now we don't know exactly what triggered the firings, if Gorton was dead set on keeping Quinn for example, then that would have been concerning but we just don't know yet.
If we had had Gallant as coach at the start of the season and had not lost Tony and had not lost Panarin to his Russian siesta we definitely would have been a playoff club . We won't even figure in the Covid or the injures that got us . Tony would have added a lot more to our already potent offense and that would have led to more wins even if he gave up a few on the D . Say what you want....we missed him . Plus with him around Fox would have been stronger down the stretch and not be the main target by so many clubs to key on . As the 6th Dman...we certainly did not replace him in our everyday lineup .

If Barkov wouldn’t want to be there why would Zibanejad?

If Barkov was made available for one reason or another this summer open up the war chest.
If Florida gets bounced and the Florida front office presents him a contract extension and he tells them he's not going to sign, I think it's very possible Florida trades him to a team that will extend him this summer.

Sorry. I honestly did not know enough about Virtanens stupid and unforgivable stuff (if true) off ice. Replacing him in the trade.

Loui Eriksson (ca$h retained)
Braden Holtby (ca$h retained)
Zack MacEwan
Vancouver’s 1st rounder 2021 (lottery protected)
Mid level prospect (Jackson Kunz?)

for

Ryan Strome
Labor Hijack (not misspelled)
Alexander “Fury” Georgiev

yeah or Nay?
No interest in Holtby or Virtanen. Pass on both proposals. Give me Michael Ferland if we're dealing with Vancouver.

Drinking early today? If all the ifs and buts were candy and nuts. Sorry you are off base. First of all Tony was/is a train wreck that caused havoc in the locker room. Like a dreaded disease they had to get rid of him. A full year of him would have been a disaster. Second if the last 3 weeks of the season showed us anything is that we could not compete with the big boys (Wash, Pitt, Isles and Bruins). This club did not have the make up to do so and if you don't see that then you are missing the boat.

Ferland is done, he played 14 games last season and zero this season. Even if he ever played again he wouldn’t be the same player after all his concussions
I didn't realize the last time he played was 2019. Never mind. Cancel that. I don't think the Rangers and Vancouver align well as trading partners to begin with.

Loui is getting bought out according to the canucks.

If Barkov were to be available bc he won’t sign long term in Florida my only players off limits completely are Fox and Lafraniere that’s it

I played against Billy Tibbetts in a high level men's league in MA. He wanted to fight me in the parking lot because I was back checking.

I was like what is wrong with you?
I had a friend who was a high level hockey exec from MA and he once told me that he has never seen a talent like Billy Tibbetts wasted. Not just a potential star star, a potential superstar.

Most of those were not moves made with the intent to stay in the state permanently.

I know a TON of people who got out of NY specifically within that time frame who will either be coming back in the next few months or have already done so.

I dont know what you are hearing but I worked in real estate for over a decade and many of my friends still work in real estate. I have a few friends that can't process loans fast enough and they are throwing money at experienced processors because there is such a shortage.

Anyways i speak to them regularly and they tell me how many people are leaving NY and NJ and almost all of the people moving down south say the same thing. Over reaching government and taxes.
