What about a guy like Marcus Foligno? Would he be available first off, and second what would be the cost? He's signed for a few years @3.1.

Also, apparently Barkov doesn't even spend his offseasons in Florida:
"During the regular season, he resides in Boca Raton, Florida with his mother Olga, and in his hometown of Tampere in the summer, where he owns a lakeside villa."
Hockey off season in FL Is exactly when you don't want to be here. It's the exact opposite of a bad winter... it's too hot to go outside... you have to go and pre-cool your car down... but it's not even the heat... it's the humidity. It's brutal and no fun at all.
Thunderstorms every day between 3-6pm etc.

Please…don’t do this to me

I dont know what you are hearing but I worked in real estate for over a decade and many of my friends still work in real estate. I have a few friends that can't process loans fast enough and they are throwing money at experienced processors because there is such a shortage.

Anyways i speak to them regularly and they tell me how many people are leaving NY and NJ and almost all of the people moving down south say the same thing. Over reaching government and taxes.
Not at all the place for this discussion, but I have to share. I am from NJ. Been moving around the country for the last 7 years or so and am currently in VA outside of DC.

The pandemic resulted in basically all of my friends who were still in the city moving to NJ. Even had some friends who had been living in CA for years return. Needless to say, I’ve been seriously thinking about heading back so that we can all be together again.

Then I look at property taxes and remember why I left. The area in which I live now is very expensive. I could probably trade my townhouse for a nice SFH in northern NJ based solely on list price.

But when accounting for property taxes, I’d be looking at another ~$1k/month in negative cash flow, which of course would last forever. No exaggeration, I pay about $6k/yr here and most places I see on Zillow in areas I am interest have taxes in the $15-20k/yr range.

Weather and amenities are probably a wash (winter here is slightly milder, summer a bit hotter and more humid).

It’s crazy how much variation there is on the value of a dollar when moving around this country.

doubt he's available after just signing a 3 year extension but i'd definitely be interested depending on the price

Honestly, hard pass on Jake Virtanen even if he wasn’t graphically accused of rape.

Guy f***ing sucks and is actually what people think Chris Kreider is as a player.

Semi-Realistic Wishlist, in order:

1) Rod Brind'Amour
2) Joel Quenneville
3) Gerard Gallant
4) Mike Sullivan
5) Paul Maurice

So essentially, Gallant and....Gallant

I'd say (and again this is just from what we have heard from the insiders on this board) that Gorts was hesitant to overpay at times... is that a bad thing or good? Probably depends on the situation.

He gets destroyed for the McD trade, and praised for dealing Nash... could he have dealt Kreider 2 drafts ago? At the trade deadline? Geo?

Those might have been opportunities to overpay a bit to get the player(s) we really need (i.e. a top center prospect)

I feel Gorts was on the right path... but maybe he wasn't as aggressive as he could've been (or Dolan thought).
My fear right now is that dolan and sather will destroy what’s been built thus far.

They are getting beat by the Stanley Cup champs....that would be quite the overreaction
The overreaction would be looking at this team that played 5 of the worst teams in the league for 40/56 games and saying that they are in any way a legit team. Let’s see them not get to beat up on 5 bad teams for the vast majority of the season and then be competent in the playoffs first.

If that was the case then they wouldn’t have left the guy who was working hand in hand with Gorton in charge and also make him the president of the club. I think expectations are going to be moving along a little faster but Drury has been here since the start of the rebuild.
