Cannot believe folks are giving Trocheck a hard time. He has been one of the real bright spots this season, in my humble opinion, at least.
People complain Strome took penalties. I see trochek taking loads of stupid penalties as well. Why does he get the free pass that Strome didn’t. I like trochek but he and Panarin have no chemistry where as Strome as Panarin did.

I’m not sure if offensive zone penalties is a stat that is tracked, but I would be very surprised if Trocheck is anywhere close to where Strome was with us.

guys are getting crazy.

Go get Labanc and a LHD.

Re-evaluate after the season. These playoffs will be very telling.

Jones for Labanc @ 50%
2nd or 3rd rounder for LHD
would like Lebanc and think he would fit in but no way is San Jose Retaining 50 percent for 2 years on almost a 5 million per year contract. If they agreed to that they would probably want more than just Jones.

I just don't see Panarin or Trouba waiving NMC middle of this season. So Meier is a pipe dream. A fun one but we just dont have space for big RFAs

It's relevant because we can only go 10% over the cap in the summer. If we don't send significant salary back at the deadline and instead wait until the offseason to unload contracts, we could end up close to the summer cap and teams could take advantage of us via offer sheets. Our only option would be to not quality Meier and then try to re-sign him to a lower number.
I didn’t even consider that, but we would NOT qualify him at 10 mil regardless. NYR are NOT paying him 10mil per. If NYR traded for him, it’s as a “rental” unless there is an extension in place or agreed upon.

Until we sign laf or key, we could theoretically tender him, and have the space, but then we'd be forced to move him immediately as you said we'd be at risk for offer sheets. But I think it could be possible to do a deal even before the tender date requirement.

Trocheck has always taken penalties. I warned about this after we signed him. Though 28 PIMs (on 14 minors) in 45 games is a slower pace than he had last year (78 in 81...29 minors, 2 majors and a 10 minute misconduct).

Strome has 33 PIMs in 45 games (14 minors and 1 fighting major), but Trocheck doesn't seem to have Strome's penchant for taking penalties in the offensive zone or while on the PP.

I think it's a personality thing. He's very happy go lucky. A little too hyper and a try hard for me with the singing on the bench etc.

I'm not saying that matters at all or in any way. Play good hockey and the best hockey come April-June and no one will care.

Before anyone rolls their eyes, there was a group in the fanbase who was pretty fed up with Lundqvist after 2015, we don't have to talk about DeAngelo and how divisive he was, Georgiev. Drury as a player was Captain Charisma lol.

Even Panarin. He reminds me a little too much of modern era Dave Grohl where he's always trying to wink at the camera and laugh at everything.

Once again it doesn't matter, but it does influence opinions and a rooting pecking order.

IF we were to make a big trade during the season... It's 100% Chychrun. We have a plethora of kids at wing already and vets like Kreider who are not going anywhere. why am I trading assets for an expensive, yet good winger?

I'd rather add another Fox or KAM on the backend.... who are gamechangers and on the ice 25minutes a game. When KAM and Fox are going, we win. Bottom line. Our 'winning streak' started when KAM started playing well. What happens if we add a talent like Chychrun?

I'd rather have the greatest Defense (top6) than another good winger.

Vote for....

Chychrun Fox
KAM Schneider
Lindgren Trouba

Who and what would you have more confidence in succeeding here? A high profile forward or defenseman? Our entire system is predicated on our defense IMO. From transition to ozone time when it always ends up on a defenders stick.

Still down with the Chychrun idea. I suggested Laf for him a couple weeks ago as a joke but maybe there’s something there for both sides

Fair point. Though with Tro i dont really even see the keener part. but i could absolutely be missing it. that said, i dont mind that, but i do agree with a lot of your examples. Especially Panarin, too flakey...i think it's reflected in his play, too. Henrik was also way too quick to throw dirty looks at his teammates. That was upsetting to me.

Replacing the player trouba is? or Replacing the player they want trouba to be (and was when he was healthier last year)

Trouba the player he is, is a 2-3 million dollar player.
Trouba the player they want, is a 6m dollar player.
Trouba is the classic case of the Rangers giving a B+ player an A role and paying him A money.

It's been going on forever. As far back as Barry Beck.

That's why I am anti Chychrun. They'd pay a fortune to get him, reshuffle the entire group and probably have to give up Lindgren. And when him and Fox don't have chemistry or he gets inured we will start the entire cycle all over again.

I don't care what analytics, statistical models, or some guy updating NHL 95 with present rosters and running a simulation does. It's not a good idea.

Nyqvist on the other hand looked great last night and could be a real plumber for this group. Cost would probably be a 2nd and 3rd in different drafts and a B-level prospect.

Panarin is always laughing at his silly passes. It aggravates me and then I have to remember he is super talented and we as fans are lucky to have him. Since he came as a UFA I don't have the same kind of attachment for him.

Lundqvist after 2015 was very frustrated. Ever more so after 2017. Throwing the net, dirty looks, the death stare to AV, etc. I think it was from a good place because he wanted to win a Cup so badly here, but it caused a great division in the fan base.

One of my cardinal rules (sports fan beliefs?) is, never throw a teammate under the bus, publically. worse when a coach does it, but in the case of Henrik, he was considered the 'chief' of that Rangers team. His words/actions carried a lot of weight. It's just crappy and divisive and, frankly, selfish. I get that he cares, but you have to trust that everyone else cares just as much. It never sat right with me.

I love how this board is convinced that if we want to make a trade laf has to go

I’ve seen him traded for Meier and chychrun in the past 8 hours.

They are not trading laf anywhere.

I have that as a maybe. Do you think Lafrenière's camp are ok with a 2 x 2.5m bridge deal for a 1OA? Miller will get paid, Chytil will get paid, then there's Kakko and Schneider coming up again a year later and if they keep the pace in their growth they will get paid too.

I really wish we’d go after Puljujarvi. I still believe there’s more to him than what has been shown. Also wouldn’t mind Kakko having a native friend on the team.

so he can frustrate Rangers fans. He is awful

Like I said, I believe there's still some untapped talent in here.
