ROR is built differently. Hard to play the same style of hockey when you weigh 25 less lbs. chytil has actually been good defensively this year playing his own style of hockey and not that traditional Canadian dump it out defense. He’s excelling at puck takeaways using his speed, which ROR can’t do.
ROR came into the league around 200

If you dont think Chytil will fill out to around 220 ( esentially 10 more lbs ) in his prime, I disagree. It's one area of his game that he should be able to grow tremendously. It would add another element to his game.

I also think he has all the tools to be a workhorse defensively.

hence, hopefully he can learn from ROR. I didn't say he needs to be 100% ROR. He can learn from him

ryan o is a serious dude. an old school guy who will say "inappropriate" shit to you when he calls you on bad plays. laffy won't be making faces on the bench if this guy is around. might do laffy some good to have this guy as mentor.

is it possible buch, kyrou and all the other younger ones couldn't stand ryan o? i noticed lot of his pts were with other old school guys perron and schenn.

All I care about is Playoffs Ryan O'Reilly.

Forgot that he’s injured atm.

I still don't love the idea of rental players. Being the club is "capped out" if they are in a position ahead in the standing they will almost certainly buy. Rangers play 23 games before the deadline.

O'Reilly
I would think that clubs will view him as a higher target then Kane. Always seems that Centers are always more coveted. With that said, the broken foot is going to put him out 6 weeks. Early Feb. Month before the deadline. If the Blues are tearing it down they should just leave him out and let him heal.

O'Reilly is a beast when the games get heavy. Trocheck and O'Reilly down the middle. That's an interesting dynamic. Everyone seems to think RW and LD at the deadline but I could see Drury kicking tires on it.

Wonder would Anaheim take a 2nd for Vatrano with 50% retained? We know he fits here, at 1.8 he'd be a steal, send blais back in the deal, not sure if him having 2 years left would be good or bad

I'm a big Vatrano fan but Anaheim taking all three years at 50 percent? That is what we would need them to do because unfortunately I don't think we can carry his almost 4 million cap hit for another 2 years after this.

For those saying we don’t need a center, I don’t see the problem with chytil moving to the wing. A third line of laf-ror-chytil would be excellent

What are you willing to give up? I don't think he will coming cheap for obvious reasons
id offer up a 2nd and a 3rd, the third can become a 2nd if we make the ECF or something along those lines

id also throw a mid tier level prospect in there.....could we be outbid? absolutely but thats my offer, if its rejected I move on

I think that is a bit off. Probably a good prospect and a 2nd that turns into a first upon some condition like cup finals or conference finals OR they ask for the first straight up plus a Berard/Sykora type. I don't think we are getting him for less than what we got Copp for.
ROR has proven way more than Copp.

Vatrano absolutely fits this year and into next year with a 1.825 cap hit. The Rangers should really be looking into this, especially now that Vesey signed for only 800K saving every bit on the cap.

Adding Vatrano and just filling out the roster with guys already under contract, we would have around $12 million to resign Laf, Chytil, Miller and what I would expect to be 1 of whichever of these guys arent traded: Jones, Krav, Goat, Hajek.

I expect Hajek and one of Jones or Krav. They may work out a deal with Goat, but we will see. It is very much doable without trading away any core players. Also, this is assuming only the 1 million bump, which is not final yet.

id do robertson and a 2nd in the 2024 draft that can be a first if we make the finals or ECF.....that I would do. I would like to keep both of our firsts in the '23 draft

also the fascination with vatrano again is a no from me

Brooks discussed ROR on the Post podcast today. He mentioned Gallant doesn't believe in having a checking line. Gallant likes three scoring lines. Brooks likes ROR. He believes the Rangers have become a soft team again. Reaves is gone. Hunt is gone. Blais has been a disappointment. Most of the players Drury brought into the organization in the summer of 2021 are except for Goodrow.

Brooks believes the Rangers should bulk up with size and strength for the playoffs because the Rangers will get smacked. The Devils too.

ROR is Eric Staal all over again. AV didn't know how to use Staal. Gallant will not use the player properly. Why bother?

Brooks dumped Kane for ROR.
