I think Buch will be a sad cap casualty but it would be easier to stomach if the return was lundell.

Players come and go. Buch (and Strome) have strung a couple of good seasons here and have earned the right to get paid. Kakko and Kravtsov are the teams long term RW’s moving forward. Extending Buch would be almost as moronic as extending Kreider.

There is no "sudden K'Andre hate". Wth? People are simply saying he is not the ready product, and other prospects may be better down the line. Criticism and pointing out flaws is fair game, that is how you evaluate a player. That is not "hating" on someone.
Uh, have you never argued on here or something?

Well let's put it this way: if Kakko and Kravtsov don't end up better than Buchnevich, we have serious issues with internal development.

They were worlds better prospects and have been better at every age.

I think that's underselling the development that Buchnevich has gone through the past year or two, but I agree with your main point. And it's not necessarily that Kakko and Kravtsov have to be much, much better than Buchnevich, but they both have to play more prominent roles if the team is going to be successful. I don't know if they can do that with Buchnevich in front of them. It's a similar situation with Strome and Chytil.

We've seen how far we can go with Buchnevich as the #1 RW, and we are all hoping that he is the #3 RW in a few years. It doesn't make much sense to tie up more long-term cap space in players we are hoping get pushed out by younger players.

Late last year Danault was moved to the third line with Byron and Lehkonen while Suzuki and Kotkaniemi became the top 2 centers.

Danault wasn’t happy playing a primary defensive role. He wanted to keep playing with Tatar and Gallagher. I think that was his motive for declining Bergevins contract extension.

He’s been the Habs 1C pretty much all year. I think he stays in Montreal, however, if he does hit free agency, he’d be the perfect acquisition for us.
If this is the case then yeah he’s not gonna want to come here. He won’t be 1C here and really he won’t even be 2C.

The one guy I would — love — to see us target is Boko Imama. He just got that really special energy when he plays. Lol, just watch him throw the gloves when he fights, I’ve never seen anyone throw the gloves with that energy.

He will step out of lines at times, bad hits and what not. But we need someone like him to show other teams that we got that dimension to when they do it against us. He is also a real watch dog, don’t mess with guys on his side. Nothing will prevent him from trying to stop it.

We get these flat goons like Tanner Glass who at most might respond to something. We need guys to give us energy.

I’d think he’d be the perfect 2C. Slot him in between Panarin and Kravtsov or Kakko. He’ll do a lot of dirty work on that line and his production will definitely increase.

He’ll get PP time on the second unit as well.

Man I would love to get Tuch from Vegas, but he's signed through 26 at 4.75. If we're gonna spend money its likely to be at center, not more wingers

The way I see it, Tuch would be the Buchnevich replacement. Buch would probably costs between 1.5 and 2 million more per year.

This is assuming we don't have Strome, cause if he's here he's likely playing with Panarin, even with the new coach.

based on past we will sign Zac Rinaldo and that will be the tough guy no skill quota. we can't get a tough guy that is useful and has some skill, since Colton Orr who can take a regular shift. Mike Rupp sadly was washed up when he got here, same with Aaron Asham. imagine if they got them a few years earlier. hope Rangers fan develop Cuylle into that skilled tough guy role. need more grit in the whole organization

Oh I absolutely agree. The two cant coexist. I move Strome and Buch. Bring in Danault plus Goodrow. Roll with:

Laf-Zbad-Kakko
Panarin-Danault-Kravtsov
Kreider-Chytil-____
____-Goodrow-Blackwell

Maybe Morgan slots in @3C and Chytil moves to RW. Or Blackwell takes that RW spot. Or Gauthier. There’ll be healthy competition for those couple of spots.

Drop Krav to 3rd line and toss Barron in that spot. His game will work there.

And if chemistry does not work with Panarin and Dadault then what. Chemistry matters in hockey. Remember when Jagr and Gomez didn’t work when Gomez was signed here. So many assumed that it was going to work and it did not.

I personally didn’t think Gomez and Jagr would work. They had very different styles to begin with.

If Panarin doesn’t mesh with Danault for some odd reason, you can still play him with Chytil. Or even Zbad.

Panarin is so good that freaking Oprah could probably play with him though.

I rather keep Strome. He has some grit which this team doesn’t have much of especially in the top 9.
