What about seeing if Lindberg would sign for the minimum for some depth? He is still relatively young and I didn't think was a total Trainwreck when I watched him last year.

We have more than enough forwards. Don't waste your time theorizing about signing more when there is no plan to get rid of the current ones we have.

If Smith is the 7D and 13th forward combined, he may actually save the team money as compared to sending him down and needing to carry two other players. At this point, I think it’s likely he is in the NHL
If we send him down again, maybe he injured himself in another fight with Lettieri and we can put him on the LTIR

QOs for Lemmy and ADA
A bit of shuffling at camp
1-2 more cheap short term UFA signings

Pure speculation
Burdasov at $925 k
McQuaid at $800 k

Makes us cap compliant with a 22 man roster and with a bit over $925 k in cap space facilitating a callup in order to operate the team.

Can anybody still see my posts or have I ignored everyone reading this thread. I mean I Hoped once it became official, everyone would just be like ‘ooo so this is what gorts feels is best for the team, but I totally trust the guy after what he’s done and deep down I know, I don’t know as much about this stuff as Jeff Fking Gorton knows, so let’s move on’

Instead we got guys adamantly saying gorts made the wrong decision. Some will never learn

DeAngelo thinks he’s getting more than a QO, but there’s no way he does. They don’t have the space to do more anyways

Can’t see any trades happening now. There will be another sell off at the deadline, even though the team has stressed multiple times they don’t want to do that again

Funny how that works

The QOs have already expired those numbers don’t mean anything anymore.

I’m really baffled at reading some of the posters in here.

As if they know more than a GM running one of the wealthiest professional sport teams in the world.

Appeal to authority is the lamest argument there is in any discussion.

Not too long ago Glen Sather was "running one of the wealthiest professional sports teams in the world." How'd that work out for ya? How about Phil Jackson? Can't criticize any moves those guys made, right?

Yeah they do. That’s why everyone keeps bringing them up. What it means is that hey, we’re up against the cap, but we’ll give you a one year deal at what your QO was gonna be and with a good season you’ll get paid even more next year.

So just bc the date to sign the QO ended, doesn’t mean it wasn’t the QO #

It’s like a reference number. What are these guys gonna do, hold out and get passed on the depth charts when the two Guys we’re talking about have a big chance ahead of them this season

How do you figure this?

With the Shattenkirk buyout, Kravtsov on the Roster, QOs signed by Lemmy and ADA, Smith and Beleskey sent down, we are at about $1.9 cap space. Thats 13 F and 6 D.

Where are we getting the money for two free agent signings? We would have to trade a body.

I hope Kreider is sold at the deadline. An own rental is a very real, and moronic, possibility.

Edit - as is an injury

Agreed

Unless the offers were just complete garbage, hard to imagine why he wasn’t moved already.

Kreider isn’t bringing back a foundational piece at this point.

Or the very normal option of holding him and trading him at the deadline if we are out of contention or if we are doing better than expected and in playoff position holding him and likely extending him??

Kravtsov or Lias start in Hartford. Fox too. Then it works. Would ease the process, likely give a slightly better return at the TDL and have us send a 3rd instead of a 2nd to Carolina. Small steps cooling down the development process by easing young players in while adding (small) assets

I'd be more than happy to bet real money that the Rangers do literally anything besides letting Kreider play out the season and then letting him sign with another team and we get absolutely nothing

Alright I mean I guess. But then youre almost blocking Fox if he earns a spot and the right to be on the opening lineup. I guess you could then waive/send down one of the veterans you have signed.

I still think they trade Beleskey with a 5th round pick attached to a team with more cap space. Only a year left at $1.9 aav.

Then try and move Namestnikov if they get the right return.

We're already locked and stocked at forward if neither Kreider or Namestnikov are immediately on the outs.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Panarin-Namestnikov-Kakko
Chytil-Strome-Kravtsov
Lemieux-Howden-Fast

And that's with Andersson, Nieves, McKegg, and Beleskey in the AHL. I'm also being cynical by putting the veterans at middle-6 center rather than the rookies.
