I think I speak for everyone here when I say that that is a totally legitimate reason and now I am on board with the move.I wonder if part of the reason they chose to buyout Shattenkirk as opposed to making different moves is because of their reported interest in Brian Boyle. We know Boyle is a leader and an emotional guy and I have to think having number 22 available for him would mean a lot. I don't personally think they should be looking to sign a player like him (I'd prefer someone more like Brassard who at least if he bounces back could be a 2nd line player) but if they are interested this is just one additional perk to try and entice him.
So what exactly are the buy-out penalties year by year?
TSN has an article citing Brooks.I noticed one of the TSN guys re-tweeted LBs tweet about the buyout then deleted it and it was done quick enough I missed who did it...

Let's not forget that by getting a player who wears the same number #22, you save on jersey costs.I think I speak for everyone here when I say that that is a totally legitimate reason and now I am on board with the move.

Come on, get serious. Boyle is 6'7".Let's not forget that by getting a player who wears the same number #22, you save on jersey costs.
My point was there's no reason for that TSN guy to delete his tweet, unless he knows something his employer doesn't.
Im just looking at creative ways to save money sans cap relief. Go easy on me.Come on, get serious. Boyle is 6'7".
Should have been Staal.
Drops the grade of the offseason down to a B for me depending on what else they do.
Well yes that has been the argument the past couple of weeks. Some were willing to even attach negative assets to Kreider just to move him.Neither Staal nor Smith save us enough cap space. Why is that so hard to understand? Would you rather give Kreider away than see marginal player A retained over marginal player B?
If signed such contract, his AAV would be going up to make that concession of not having a NMC at allWhat are the chances Kreider takes a contract that doesn’t have expansion draft protection?
From who?
So, assuming this is true, that leaves us with roughly 2.8M to sign ADA and Lemieux (once Beleskey and one of Nieves/McKegg are sent to Hartford) - is that correct?
So then why hamstring yourself next season when you can possibly sign a 2C?
With how many roster spots to fill?
If I get the money I am looking for right now and I get a full NTC/NMC the first 2 years of the deal? Yeah, maybe. Gets me paid, I'm in NY for sure for the next 2 years, and I don't have to worry about injury or regression. If you were him, would you take that?
