It would bring me endless joy if we find out late Friday that the window is 48 business hours and runs thru next week lol

So, assuming this is true, that leaves us with roughly 2.8M to sign ADA and Lemieux (once Beleskey and one of Nieves/McKegg are sent to Hartford) - is that correct?

My thoughts:

Bury Smith and save 1.05m
Bury Beleskey and save 0.875m
Send down/waive McKegg and save 0.75m
Send down/waive Nieves and save 0.7m

That leaves us with 4.385m

Sign DeAngelo 2.5m x 2 years
Sign Lemieux 0.9m x 1 year
Rykov makes the team at 0.925m

Amounts to 4.325m

Cap hit: 81.44m/81.5m

Continue trying to trade Kreider and Namestnikov.

Try to package Smith (retained) with a deadline deal.

Roster:

Panarin - Zibanejad - Kravtsov
Kreider - Chytil - Kakko
Namestnikov - Andersson - Buchnevich
Howden - Strome - Fast
Lemieux
Nieves

Skjei - Trouba
Hajek - DeAngelo
Staal - Fox
Rykov

Lundqvist
Georgiev

If Shesty comes up, him and Georgiev will be switching places, one down, one up.

Here's an interesting one now. I always thought Kravtsov was essentially a lock to start in the NHL but is it possible he begins the year in Hartford? Assuming no forwards are moved...

Panarin - Mika - Kakko
Kreider - Chytil - Buchnevich
Namestnikov - Andersson - Strome
Lemieux - Howden - Fast

I don't see who sits for him out of the gate.
Same top 2 lines

Lemiuex - Howden - Kravstov
Namestnikov - Strome - Fast

Andersson starts in AHL till Names is dealt at deadline for a 4th and we use his cap room to pay out ELC bonuses

The mistake ultimately was signing him in the first place...Rangers got caught thinking they could take one more crack at the playoffs and Shattenkirk giving them a decent deal was too enticing to pass up at the time. In retrospect the rebuild should have started that summer and "one more kick at the can" was a terrible idea. Both sides too caught up in the storyline

This is the first major decision I vehemently disagree with from Gorton
I can get it with next year being the only large cap hit year. Assuming we let Strome go (he is a RFA), we are losing him, Names, Beleskey, and the Girardi cap hit is going down by 2.5. We don’t have any contracts to renew next year. Let’s us be more flexible with Kreider.

What are the chances Kreider takes a contract that doesn’t have expansion draft protection?

So if Krieder isn’t being dealt yet is it safe to assume he’ll be playing alongside Zib and either Kakko or Kravtsov? Hate using the word hope but I hope Quinn puts Krieder in a position to put up the best numbers.
I know some are all about having a top line of Panarin-Zib-Kakko but would it not make sense to split Panarin and Zib up? At least in the short term?
