It's even in my opinion.

Yotes win it short term, because stepan solidifies their top 6

Rangers win it in the long term if the #7 and DeAngelo pan out... DeAngelo is already on his way to being a legit stud, and the talent available at the #7 is high end.

I took the question as today overall, Hjalmarsson trade included. Just this trade it's even yeah.

It makes absolutely zero sense to "see what Shattenkirk wants" or even Smith for that matter if the Rangers are not going to do anything about the center position, zero.. They should just rebuild at that point, Mcdonagh has 2 years left, same with zucc, cash in on them now, Nash might have some value, trade him too..

It makes absolutely no sense to not move them if Gorton's plan is to rebuild. none at all

Devils need defenss. Makar stock is soaring. Would not be surprised to see him go. Then we make a deal with Dallas at the draft right there. #7 + #21 for #3 and their 3rd.

Correction... Devil's need anything but goaltending....

Evbery answer doesn't need to be given in this offseason. Build the team with a long term goal. If they add Smith and Shattenkirk this off-season then the defense is set. Next off-season or during the season keep an eye out for a good center to be available.

package the 21st and ryan graves plus nick holden with $ retained to col for duchene

theres your 26 yr old 1C

he was 2.08 Rel.CF% for 15-16 and even on a horrifically bad avs team last year was still 1.15 Rel.CF%

lots of game left there. wheels and a true 1C

duchene
mika
hayes
nieves

pass on shatty

resign brendan smith

Colorado laughs at that offer.

As of this moment he HAS to say that about Hayes ... simply because if he doesn't, he loses leverage. What he says and what he feels are often different.

Yes because he should outright trash his own player to appease your fears.

OK since this was stated more than once I'll rebut by saying I don't by that for a sec. He can simply dance around the subject without trashing said player like every other GM.
All he has to say is
"We're happy with the players we have and we'll always look for ways to improve our team moving forward"
Blah blah blah..

I don't think now is the time to go after Duchene. Stay the course, try and find some younger guys about to break out.

Trade Nash and Holden.

Re-sign Smith. look at Shattenkirk and see what he wants

shatty doesnt really fill that true first pair mcdonagh partner. not sure he's a target anymore with deangelo here unless he's willing to take a lesser deal. 7 yrs and 6 mil per and its DOA.

agreed on smith. pay the guy. 2nd pair is set.

disagree on duchene. he's still young. fast. dangerous. creative. imagine him on this team with chris kreider and zucc. :amazed:

we can still draft a younger pivot but duchene gives us a legit chance to be better right now and down the road.

Duchene with 2 years left scares me. People think Stepan's year was bad. 41 points last year for Duchene.

Considering it currently appears to be a retool year next year, I'd rather try and find some guys with longer term than just the 2 for Duchene
