I want to see what he does when everything is said and done. Also we don't know what his plan is ... is he rebuilding?

As much as I dislike the trade, I was still trying to remain optimistic right up until I read the Tweet saying he thinks Hayes is a top 6 center.
Can you imagine the first time Zbad gets injured?
It's gonna be Hayes against the world...SMH

Nash at 50% for #3 and one of the goalies.

Nash @ 50%
Staal
21OA

for

3OA
Goalie

We then pick at 3 and 7 and definitely sign Smith/Shattenkirk/Thornton and still have tons of cap room.

Take Nico/Patrick at 3 and Pettersson at 7.

Ballgame!

Leverage. Can't say "I need a 1C now" and expect fair offers. The tweet also said something along the lines of "but don't be surprised if they do" (paraphrasing of course)

Here's an idea:

Nash @ $5.9m

for

ANA 1st '17 + DAL 2nd '17 + Lehtonen

Rangers cap situation remains identical. Dallas moves that cap hit to a winger

Are we rebuilding.. or.... another trade comin.. or...

We got younger, we changed the core (one trade, one bought out), got faster, got some picks including a high one.. We have cap space to fix the defense perhaps..

We have 2 centers tho...

package the 21st and ryan graves plus nick holden with $ retained to col for duchene

theres your 26 yr old 1C

he was 2.08 Rel.CF% for 15-16 and even on a horrifically bad avs team last year was still 1.15 Rel.CF%

lots of game left there. wheels and a true 1C

duchene
mika
hayes
nieves

pass on shatty

resign brendan smith

As of this moment he HAS to say that about Hayes ... simply because if he doesn't, he loses leverage. What he says and what he feels are often different.

Team lost two A's so far this offseason. I wonder who the replacements will be.

C: McDonagh
A: Staal
A: Nash
A: Zuccarello
A: Miller

Who else could possibly get an A? Fast? Kreider? Hayes? Everyone else has only played one year with the Rangers.

None of those guys seem important enough to give up an extra asset in order to move up for. They're all in the same tier, IMO. There will be a decent player available at 7.

Yeah I'm with this.... I'd wait to see if that player falls or is taken.... I can't see much of a difference with the top 10 in this draft.

Yes because he should outright trash his own player to appease your fears.

They didn't accept Hamonic, a 1st and a prospect for Duchene, they aren't trading him for expansion draft fodder.

Yeah I hear ya.
I really hope they have some kind of game plan and make something happen tonight.
To be continued..

I just don't see a really sensible move to get up to #3. Dallas supposedly wants defense, and I can't see Staal being an enticing piece to take on. Skjei is waaaayyyy too much unless pieces come back from Dallas. Holden is nothing special. McDonagh isn't going anywhere.

Sure, they could use Nash, but move down just to get him when they could take Heiskanen?

Skjei and 7 for Honka and 3? Stars get a proven top-4 lefty and the Rangers get the guy they want and get another good RHD.

NO!!! Its time to stop the rotating A BS...

A: Staal
A: Zucc or Nash

I don't think now is the time to go after Duchene. Stay the course, try and find some younger guys about to break out.

Trade Nash and Holden.

Re-sign Smith. look at Shattenkirk and see what he wants

I'd rather just keep the 7 and take Glass or Petersson. No need to get crazy

Arizona 100%

It's even in my opinion.

Yotes win it short term, because stepan solidifies their top 6

Rangers win it in the long term if the #7 and DeAngelo pan out... DeAngelo is already on his way to being a legit stud, and the talent available at the #7 is high end.
