That's a bit dramatic. He moved a lot of cap. I think he's clearly planning to fix the defense via free agency.

Wait until after free agency before calling for his head.

Not being dramatic lol but I fail to see how you fix the defence with unknown parts at the expense of all the center depth.

You sign Shattenkirk and Smith. Those aren't unknowns. That gives us an excellent top 4.

Yes the center depth hurts a lot. We better pick a center with our first. Could sign a free agent until that player is ready to take over. Thornton on a cheap 1 year deal would be ideal.

Nash's value is shot. I think he's worth more to us as a player than as a trade chip at this point.

Maybe, but if we're going to move him with salary retained, I'd probably prefer to do a separate deal elsewhere.

If they really want to get crazy, maybe its possible to get that pick with out giving up 7 :amazed:

Thornton a 1 year deal?...

Rangers have 2 picks in the 1st round.. alternative news.

Whats the odds they use both picks tho?

I want to see what he does when everything is said and done. Also we don't know what his plan is ... is he rebuilding?

Nash @ 50% is great value. 3.5mil on a one year deal would be a steal this year in free agency for a player of his caliber.

Mmm I'd agree before this past season. I love Nash. His play really has fallen off recently though and I really don't think anyone would pay the price to have us retain on him.

Personally..I want no part of Shattenkirk.
I would take Smith back though as long as he comes back down to earth with his asking price. He's smoking his lunch if he thinks he's that good.

Rangers are not going to be able to move up until at BEST 4.. Flyers and the Devils are not trading with us, and very doubtful Vegas will either, they probably have someone they like at 3 already.

What about Marcus Kruger if Chicago would pretty much give him up for something small?

Hasn't all the smoke around Dallas moving #3 been around getting an NHL player right now.

I don't think the picks do much for them unless they're going to package them back out for a player.

i think your spot on, only way i think dallas moves the 3rd is if mcd goes the other way, given how high the price is on defense right now (islanders asking for 2 firsts for hamonic) id entertain what MCD would return from dallas.

I wouldnt mind Kruger taking Lindberg's spot

I think for those of you super angry about the trade need to drink some unkool aid and wash out that psychedelic effect of the roster building thread.

Y'all keep wanting strome/domi/dvorak + 7OA + a minor piece. That's literally what Sakic asked for that had him branded as insane. In 3 years time, the 7OA, assuming we draft regularly and aren't unlucky will be worth more than a 30 year old Stepan with 1 year left on his contract. DeAngelo on RD is also a good piece to get if he manages to reach his potential. To pick up a roster player like Dvorak on top is bat **** insane.

If we improve on D and F, we can make the playoffs all the same with an inferior backup. Raanta is worth more to them than he is to us which is why this can be a win-win. If our 7OA pans out as 7OA generally do and DeAngelo pans out, we'll come out on top in 2 years time. Dvorak/Strome/Domi + 7OA + piece (DA) would be animal abuse against coyotes.

This is probably what moving Stepan's contract was for though. It seems like the logical next step for JG.
