Just for ***** and gigs, move Lindberg to Boston (I think they should have an open spot for a forward?) or Florida for Colin Miller or Psyyk

I wonder what the sentiment in NYR head office is if Tony Ds name comes up in talks with PHX?

There could be issues off ice, but his style fits AVs game well and the kid has very good Jets. I wouldn't be against him on a discount.

how many goalies are they going to take? Unless something changed I think someone like Grubaeur is probably a better pick for Vegas as a potential starter

I'd expect them to take at least 4 if teams don't trade certain people away.

There are a few teams who need goalies (Winnipeg, Calgary, Philly, Arizona.) Easy way for them to acquire even more draft picks.

someone pls remind me
How many special condition Ds and Fs do we have to provide?
Thought it was 1 D and 2Fs, but not remembering...

point is, if it is only 1D and we are still good w/Klein not officially retired, then we can trade Holden NOW?

Or, do we have to wait for that until after the expdrft

I think most want a reTOOL, not a full rebuild.

I'm in this boat as well. I think if we were going to blow it all up ... we missed that window a year or so back when we could have moved Hank, Nash, etc and really put ourselves in a position to be loaded with young prospects. But I think at this point, we have enough talent to not throw it all away, but I would say not a 'retool' and more of a 'reculture shift' ... There's something to be said for the laissez-faire attitude the team displays.

Clubs have 12Fs, 6D.
If they don't surrender a C and add one in Stepan, if we throw in enough sweetener, it may make palatable Chychrun.
Like I consistently say, it is about the currency

Chychrun is 1 year removed from being drafted, cost-controlled, expansion draft exempt. I don't see it happening. On top of that, he is a D-man and arguably the best D-man of his draft class. Throw in a sweetener? What do you want to add? A pick? I hope not.

"Less" is relative here.
Less than fair value? Full value? Overvaluation b'c people are getting greedy?
Stepan may not be the cause of the problem but he is not part of the solution.
Move for best return, competitive bids will not result in shortchange.

We do not have to trade Stepan despite what you keep saying. We are listening to offers, not actively shopping him. If the right offer isn't there, we will keep him because he is 27 years old and 6.5m for the next 4 years for a center putting up 55 points while playing all situations, and on the top-line, is not an overpayment. Stepan has value and we are in a position where we can keep him on the team.

Why not, if the overall deal is profitable enough for them.
Why not, if they are compromising and not surrendering?

Chayka is a GM who doesn't settle for something he doesn't find fair value. He's a tough negotiator.

Totally NO.
Take the pick
Gorton will take best option, or move it if profitable.
DO NOT STAY STUCK WITH STEPAN

If Stepan stays, we are not stuck with him. He isn't a liability. My god, people talk about him as if he's Girardi.

If Vegas wants Lindberg or Fast they can have them. That's really an extremely marginal loss compared to what some other teams could lose. Such an obsession with pretty good homegrown 4th liners.

Surprised no one here has mentioned Bonino. Guy fits the system to a tee. Him/Grabner/Nash as a shutdown line would be really good and he can PK/take pressure off Hayes/Zibby. Bonino also is a playoff performer.

Thornton isn't going to help anyone until January and even then who knows how much if any guy has left in the tank.

They're going to lose a player, it happens. Replace them with a UFA, and get back some prospects as potential replacements in a trade.

Rangers have a pretty good maybe very good but not great squad. Half the squad doesn't step it up for the postseason which is a problem. I'd rather have a 45-50 point player who becomes Claude Lemieux or Joel Ward as a Wild Card team than a balanced squad to have a high seed but every playoff game is agony. The only one of the players who Vegas is taking who could have a huge impact is Raanta, and even he's replaceable. Time to get assets and if you can't stink enough to get a Crosby or Kane, maybe you find a Giroux, Tarasenko, or Weber.

Just wondering, what makes you say that?

Just his overall skill set.

I think he does a lot of things well, but nothing really stands out for me. That doesn't mean he sucks, but I don't see top pair potential in his future, I think his upside is a #4.

Basically, Coyotes have other assets I'd rather have.

I just want the 7th pick...I want one of Glass/Petterson/Middlestadt. As for Duclair, I'd take him just to flip him elsewhere...not interested in actually getting him back.

2 forwards, 1 defenseman and 1 goalie need to be compliant.

As it stands now:

Grabner & Puempel
Holden & Klein (Not yet retired)
Raanta

If ARI isn't willing to send OEL I am asking for a deal involving Keller.

It's funny how the majority of people here (Not saying you were among them, FYI) were crying for weeks after we gave up Duclair, and 2 years later it seems as if nobody wants him back on the team

I think the biggest problem with this current Rangers squad is that they are good enough to compete night in and night out with most of the league, and thrive in mediocrity (make the playoffs, win a round maybe, etc.) But they aren't good enough to knockout the likes of Pittsburgh. On the flipside, they aren't bad enough to warrant a complete rebuild either. They are in that no mans land unfortunately. it's a weird place to be and I don't think there's any real way of solving it. We have tons of 'good players' but no superstars. We score plenty of goals, but no one who can take over a game.

There's thing whole thing about needing a great fourth line after what we had with Boyle and Moore and such compared to what we have in Glass. You don't really need that. You just need to not play completely horrible players on it like Glass and all the enforcer types Sather has signed. Solid fourth liners are a dime a dozen you can get them cheap in FA every year or from the AHL

I have been saying this for so long. Depth is nice but it doesn't mean anything if we don't have a top line or top pairing defense. We need to improve our top line players who play the most minutes even if it means grabbing scrubs off the recycle bin for our 4th line.

I can't shake this feeling that its going to be Murphy, 23 and another piece, which honestly I'd like even less.

At least with Strome there is the potential for him to be a monster or trade him again to land a really big fish.
