I'd hold pretty firm to something like:

Dumba + Tuch/Kunin/Eriksson Ek

Get one of those young forwards. All three of them are close to NHL ready. Dumba comes in as a top-4 RD.

Galchenyuk + MTL 1st

Galchenyuk comes in as a top-9 skilled winger. The Rangers add another player in the 1st round as well.

I am a bit intrigued about the idea of a Las Vegas deal. If Minnesota doesn't protect Dumba or Brodin and there are other players available could they get a similar package of players from Vegas? Say Dumba +

Am I the only one here that things that Stepan will not bring some huge return? Like maybe a 2nd round pick and a B level prospect or straight up for a serviceable #4 d-man?

Huge return or fair value? Big difference. Do you believe fair value for Stepan is a 2nd and a B level prospect? Why do the Rangers trade Stepan unless they are getting fair value? They don't have to trade him.

Yes. What leads you to believe that? Look at what similar centers production wise brought back in trade:

Jordan Staal was traded for Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumolin, and the 8th overall pick

Eric Staal, as a rental, on pace for a less than 50 point season, brought back 2 2nds and Saarela

Hell, Brassard got us Zibanejad and a 2nd

Not many quality top-6 centers get traded. When they do, teams pay a lot for em.

Miller was supposed to regress this past year and had (to date) a career year.

Now it's unlikely that Brady Skjei matches or improves on last years totals?

Interesting

You can throw in the price Buffalo paid for ROR.

Assume it was discussed earlier but why is the NHLPA choosing to go with the inflator for the cap again? I mean, it's good news for us but it makes zero sense for them considering escrow is a huge deal.

I don't understand why some of you think Jesper Fast is so expendable, the guy is one of the few Rangers that actually showed up every shift in the playoffs

This place is good for an iota of reality-based information for about every 100 spitballs...and that ratio is a generous assessment

Johansen returned Jones. I'd consider Jones the more impactful player IMO. He also had no attitude issues.

Teams who have bad center depth know they can't win without it. Montreal especially is a win-now team. They did the same thing the offseason they traded for Gomez and signed both Gionta and Camalleri. Weber, Pacioretty and Price are all in their prime. Time to ratchet up the heat. Minnesota is in a similar spot with Parise, Koivu, Suter and Staal. Those are their big horses. Dallas I'm sure would love to add another center. Benn and Seguin play together. Spezza is getting older. Their core isn't super young anymore. Nashville may have just missed out on a Cup due to their center depth. Once Johansen went down they had no one. 37 year old Fischer isn't a 1C.

There should be A LOT of options out there for Gorton if he decides to move Stepan. The return for a 26 year old RH center with time left on his deal. He's also got a ton of playoff and big game experience at a young age. Something teams look for.

Gorton is not forced to deal Stepan. He's likely listening to offers and has made Stepan available at the right price. There's no reason to dump Stepan for a cheap price.

Harsh opinion, but I think Dumba is nothing special after reviewing his play a bit the past few days. I would be pretty pissed if they moved Stepan for him.

It's Shattenkirk or bust for me.

Lol, I guess I struck a nerve with that one. Honestly, just looking back on some deals for single players, usually the return is kind of underwhelming. I guess the fact that he does still have a couple years left on a decent contract does help. I still think that some of these proposals are a little kooky though(for example, I personally do not believe he brings back Jacob Trouba in a 1 for 1).

its gonna suck losing him but still feel LV takes Lindberg.
Fast is guy every team needs especially the Rangers.

Look at at the deals for Centers.

They're usually pretty good.

On the low end, you have the ROR return (and ROR was a player who desperately wanted out of Colorado/Colorado couldn't afford to pay.)

He returned 2 NHL players who were recently 1st round picks (Zadorov and Gigorienko) and essentially a pair of 2nds (Compher was 2 years removed from being drafted, and they also got an actual 2nd.)

And before someone brings up Spezza, Not only did Ottawa need to move him for salary purposes, Spezza had a NTC and got to pick his spot.

Antoine Vermette returned a 1st and a B- prospect as a rental. Why would Stepan have less value than that?

Are there any teams who have forward slots available but have too many defensemen? Florida? Any possible swaps for Lindberg for a defenseman in similar situation?

A D that isn't getting protected or isn't the focus of a side deal to not select said D is not worth losing Lindberg for.

While were on the subject, Id rather lose Grabner than Lindberg OR Fast. And I like Grabner.
