we lose a little offensive pop with the loss of stepan, but girgensons makes us younger faster, Nuke is the boom or bust concellation prize. Add and extra first and add 2 D men that could really bring the heat from the point and push the pace of the game. Our PP will be better, McD will be better rested, Niemi comes off the books at the end of the year, and Gorts moves staal as soon as graves is ready, hopefully by the deadline. Any questions???

I hear you and I'm not going to defend it in terms of a hockey trade, but the cap comment is off. It's a wash cap wise.

You add dumba, keep staal and we still need a center. That's more cap. Minnesota has cap issues too, and now 3 or 4 similar centers.

I guess that makes them unlikely trade partners. And minny still needs to protect another d even after shedding dumba.

I read it as there are general agreements/active discussions in place (but not official trades), but teams are waiting until they see what sugars out from the expansion draft.

These are absurd, false, claims about Skjei.

I want to blow the core up [clarification: the bad part of the core. not the part that people think is bad because of 12 playoff games], that's why I wanted to trade the 21OA w/ Girardi to LV. Girardi was core. You very clearly are putting some of my views, and combining them with another posters views, and claiming they're all mine, and I don't appreciate it.

Your point, which you moved off of, was that you didn't list Kreider in your players who you want to keep because "Kreider has value".

Does Skjei not have value? Why can we trade Kreider because "he has value" but Skjei is untouchable? Maybe it's more likely that your list of players who you want to keep makes no sense. Vesey but not Kreider? I'd love that explanation.

I also don't know how many times I have to say I'd trade anyone for the right value, but I wouldn't actively shop everyone.

The Rangers stove is burning hot right now. The closer we get to the protection list deadline...the hotter it gets.

Silverfish thinking of ideas to maximize Skjei's value pre-expansion draft =/= him wanting to trade Skjei.

I'm dreading trading Stepan, but I want a top D or a younger replacement center coming back. I liked the trade idea of Dumba + Kunin/prospect

I was not saying them being good would be a problem. I always want to contend.

I was saying if they were having a mediocre year hovering around the last two wild card spots, they should sell but they wont

main board says no Dumba for Stepan, even straight up.

We have an opportunity to trade a dime for a quarter. It should be explored, just like everything else. But unless you really rip a team off, like Skjei straight up for Trouba, don't do anything.

What a concept!

RB just loves attacking me for some reason. It's cool.

I don't consider that a "rip off"...

in part because Trouba is about to ask for a ton of money after this upcoming year and Skjei will be cheap(ish) for a few years yet.

and Skjei put up almost 40 points himself.
 
Yea but at the same time the only reason you have even a hope of something like that is because Skjei put up nearly 40 points this year. If he did all the same stuff defensively but only had 15 points there wouldn't even be a conversation. He's highly unlikely to even approach that next year. Not saying I want to trade him but if you happen to get that type of offer I'd go for it.

Trouba has cracked 30 points one time.. I get he's 23 and can obviously grow, but I think some people massively overrate him, (but some underrate him too).

That's unfortunate for them because Dumba is soooooo not impressive and I'd be ****ing miffed if we traded Stepan for him.

Same. Needs to be Dumba+ otherwise I'm very happy to keep Stepan.

Ya. Once. This season. In 60 games. And he's a month older than Skjei, and a proven 1RD.

If you get offered Trouba for Skjei straight up (never gonna happen), you take it and run like the wind and never look back ever ever ever.
