Matt and Step both have some miles on them already so it would be a interesting swap. Nate would be the better get if possible but I would consider Matt as well.

I agree and for Nate, I would be willing to add some big pieces like Skeji and then some. Joe might not be the easier to do a deal with, BUT, I think we actually make solid trading partners.

Still no rumors from Florida? That seems odd, no? They have too many defensemen. Obvious team who wants to make changes.

I'm also a little surprised we haven't heard anything from Arizona. Another team who needs to make some changes and start contending.

Things will be announced when they're done.

My feeling is that the Rangers will be pretty quiet between now and Saturday. Anything major will happen around the draft.

no

Probably no takers... like last offseason / TD

no thats just not true. Gorton had deals for kreider and nash. the article didn't say who the nash trade was for, but FLA had an offer for kreider. ( Both low ball offers) Gorts stated he wasn't just going to give players away for 10 cents on the dollar for cap room. If Gorts needs that 7.8 mill spent elsewhere I have no doubt he can move nash. a team like dallas would love to have him, and I would love if he can somehow spin that into Rousell + Nuke for Nash + Holden maybe a pick as well

What would everyone's opinion be of Jason Demers? $4.5m for 4 more years. RD. Really a top-4 guy who moves the puck pretty well. I would compare him to Brendan Smith.

If the Rangers weren't in love with trying to outbid everyone for Shattenkirk and thought they could roll out Smith, Demers, McDonagh and Skjei as their top-4 would anyone be opposed? That would be an inexpensive top-4 group.

AV wouldn't use him right this time either. We need a RHD, not Yandle.. I loved yandle here btw

have to agree and wouldn't we have to give something up?
It would burn me to give up more assets after giving up a LOT for him once before.

Doesn't he have a NTC?

The reason I'm interested in Shattenkirk so much is because I really think he's willing to take less to play here, they wont have to win the bidding war, just get near the top offer (if its not us)

Modified NTC I believe. If Florida holds on to Yandle, Ekblad and Demers, they lose one of Pysyk or Petrovic. Hard to lose those inexpensive young defenders for nothing. Demers was signed under the old management team. The Rangers need a RD. FLA may be willing to entertain moving him in order to clear some cap and open up a protection spot.

I'd love to pick up Pysyk if they hold onto those 3, whether it be from FL or LV.

I'm like 98% kidding about Yandle.

If a trade involving Stepan and Galchenyuk as the main pieces were to actually happen, how would this be viewed in comparison to the Brassard - Zibanejad trade from a year ago (depending on the + for each side)? Would Galchenyuk's age, pedigree, and ceiling, combined with Stepan's potential decline offset the risk associated with losing Stepan's consistency and defensive 1/2C role, and make it a potentially better deal? Or, does the fact that Zibanejad was already producing close to Brassard's rate, and was 5 years younger, make that deal automatically better?

Chicago loves hammer but he might be a cap casualty. Why trade him for a guy making $1.3m less? They would need to get rid of Panarin or Hossa to just eek out a team. And then return to cap hell when Galchenyuk needs a new contract.

Edit: they are $4.5m over the cap. Allegedly Kruger and tvr go to vegas, that's a hair under $4m. This trade means they need to replace 2 defenseman and put Galchenyuk at center if anisimov is the casualty. Or they are worse if Panarin goes. Hossa won't be tradeable with his cap penalty. They'll kill any cap savings trying to plug holes.
Have maintained they would only take Staal if they dumped Seabrook on us.
Is there something I overlooked?
Any possible way we can take more than Staal's cap hit that we can still live with?

Staal at 50% for Anisimov?

Thoughts on Hayes Stepan for Galchenyuk Gallagher?
I hate Gallagher on Montreal, but I'd love him on NY.
No on moving Hayes,
and Gally may be useful investment but not clear how much of a C he really is/can be.
No on getting way smaller with Gallagher.
Stop the hayes hate
Hayes >>>>>>>> Gallagher

His inconsistency and defensive zone positioning do worry me a bit.

I don't think you can determine that. Completely depends on the player Galchenyuk turns into. At the moment, I'd say the Brassard trade would be a better deal, but Galchenyuks ceiling is a bit higher than Zibanejad, although I value the two similarly. Stepan's value is higher than Brassard, meaning the addition to Galchenyuk would need to be greater than the second in the Brassard deal. I expect a first, maybe more if this happens.

Stepan+Graves for Galchenyuk+Beaulieu
Throw in picks to balance.

No, prefer Gravy to Beau-meister
b'c......

Beaulieu stinks. And he's another LHD. Rather have a pick.
.... concur

Take away the 1st and I do that trade.. I'm that high on Mackinnon growing into a 70P+ center.

we would be lucky if they accepted Stepan + Skjei + Buch as enough overpayment, and that is overly ridiculous

that said, MacK = 85+ and Kreider hits 70+ if united, esp w. correct C

Hopefully we can get a good fix on Graves's value this season like we did with Brady. I'd like to see a pingu ripping one timer on this Rangers team for the first time in my life.
