I like how the people who say Girardi has never been good throw out a mix of opinions and stats/evidence (would at least like a source thrown in, to be honest), whereas the people who say he's always been good just lay out opinions.

"Girard was never good" crowd, please source your stats so there is no accusations of pulling them out of your butt.

"Girard was good early" crowd, please supply something other than subjectivity. It's mostly worthless.

Using stats and sourcing them is always good, no matter what side of the argument you are on :thumbu:

But this is getting OT, no? Can we go back to discussing the rosterbm building?

And I'll have you know there's nothing wrong with my butt

Tumor could be benign. :) (Wouldn't try medical illustrations with me)

Girardi is part of the problem but he isn't the problem

Every member of the Rangers and their plus/minus during the 2016-17 playoffs.

Notice now almost everyone is negative with him and just about everyone is positive without him.

But he isn't the problem.

When do the Rangers have til to sign a F so they are expansion draft compliant?

I believe either Friday or Saturday at 5pm EST is the deadline for protection list submission.

Don't recall off the top of my head, but that's the deadline you're thinking of.

I won't even acknowledge the posts that Girardi was never good. That's complete garbage and shows a real lack of hockey knowledge. He has given this team years of good and honorable service. He probably won't be playing in New York next year but he will be playing and contributing somewhere.

By the way statheads, did you notice where PGH ranked in Corsi this year? Must have been an off year for analytics I guess. Probably the beginning of a career decline.

I wonder if there's a team out there who would take Girardi at 50%. We trade Girardi+ to Vegas, and they eat half his cap hit and trade him, or buy him out.

I think there may be a few and it may not take a full 50% to achieve.

Zibanejad is a RFA probably will get a bridge deal.. Also, if the Rangers get Shattenkirk there not going to sign Smith too

He's coming off a bridge deal. This is his payday contract.

Yeah. So true. Dan was a warrior that overachieved in a system that fit him very well. Always gave his all, even if some tools were never there. These neverending, incorrect personal vendetta agendas are downright blasphemous. They cannot even spell STOOPID.

I knew a lotta geeks that always gave out these kinda numbers. Where are most of them now? The games are played on the ice. There are definitely some thing they enlighten, but with statistics one can basically prove anything. Even that Pittsburgh does not drive possession.

Perhaps. Interesting to see.

He wants a lot more than I think most here will wanna give. Between Kreider and Stepan. That nasty injury may however ironically be Godsend when it all comes down to it regarding the NYR Cap implications.

Also prevents having to pay both McDonagh and Zib at around the same time.

That is a nice extra little thing I guess? But I sure as **** ain't worrying about structuring contracts around something like that.

It's always nice to housekeep these things. Was it Tampa or someone that had like 5 of their top 7 players needing a new contract in the same year. It sure can cause trouble.

Definitely agree. Without the injury he was probably on a path for 5 X $5.5MM or more. Now I'm thinking shorter term, less money. The only problem is that you don't want the term to be too short.
