If the lowest Kreider will accept is 7x7 (likely with some sort of NMC), do you...

  • Trade him

  • Sign him

  • Rent him for the playoffs and let him walk as a UFA

I can't see hank being bought out. If the team actually had intentions of buying him out they would tell him before the trade deadline and he would waive. If he doesn't get traded he's staying. Simple as that.
I don't think it's actually that simple - they have a bunch of moving pieces, including who-offers-what for Georgie either now or in the off-season.

Can someone please bring me up the speed on what's happened today if anything? or are we still rehashing a lot of the same stuff that's been going around last week?

Nothing of interest. Boudreau is out in Minnesota, Hank has been 'snubbed' for Georgiev while Shesty is still injured (day-to-day), ADA is day-to-day and won't play tonight, Staal is game time decision so Keane has been called up, half the board wants Kreider gone and half want him at 7x7...

1. Don’t think Gorton’s eyes are off Jesse Puljujärvi.

Getting — anything — done in the NHL is hard enough. Making things complicated involving several parties is almost impossible. But given the pieces we have and the estimated price for Pulju, I still have hopes that Gorts can pull something up. EDMs ask is pretty generic. Get that top 9 forward with speed that they are looking for and add a 2nd and Pulju should be yours. JMHO.

2. I think Hank is retiring this summer. There isn’t space for him and no team are trading for him. That opens up cap space.

3. Unfortunately I think Buch is a gone. These bridge deals put the team in a horrible situation. Buch is getting better and better. His price will be really really hefty in the near future. It’s no panic, but I think Gorton is shopping him quietly.

4. We could be selling Ryan Strome at the next deadline. But Gorton’s tearing down days are almost over. Gorton don’t have to guard his reputation as a seller.

I get the arguments for keeping Chris Kreider. I think the cap implications makes Gortons decision for him. But if Gorton deals Buch and Hank retires — there is an opening for Kreider.

However — even with it being really unusual — I wouldn’t rule out that Kreider is traded and then resigned. He is the type who could be the exception that confirms the rule so to speak.

5. I like Max Domi. MTL has plenty of centers. I wouldn’t be against Buch for Domi if Gorton has a deal for Strome in the back pocket.

Where are @RangerMan’s massive updates? @Edge you are the son of a banker, don’t be so cheap with setting up dinners in the city. @BBKers Time to get the scouting community in Sweden on a whale hunting trip. @Dagoon Any signings coming up?

We need news!!!!! ;)

kreieders for 1 3 and colton sissons book it

Friedman was talking Lundqvist on NHL network just now. I missed the beginning of it but what I did catch is essentially Rangers are not sending out an email to 30 teams saying he’s available, but if someone wants him they can approach the Rangers and see if it’s something they can take to Henrik.

I think there is a good chance Puljiujarvi’s rights are traded to the Rangers within a few weeks

Would love Domi’s kid in the Garden

I think we'll get a pretty clear picture of things in 10 days. If Kreider isn't wearing another jersey on Feb 25th, big changes are coming. Obviously not exactly a scoop but keeping Kreider beyond the deadline, even without a contract in place, ensures that the Rangers are either moving on from Lundqvist or intend to move some other expensive bodies.

Hank could of course waive and move before the deadline, but I think the team and the player would want some sort of send-off. At least with Bourque, as far as I remember, most Bruins fans knew it was coming.

This is basically what I was referring when I was talking about the ramifications of Kreider still being here after the trade deadline.
