Value of: ROR to the Leafs at the deadline.

ROR is an off the rack JT at this point. There will be no way in hell he can be extended and if there’s retention St Louis would probably want Liljegren or something.

Why though?

A third line with ROR would definitely be a hybrid scoring line. Having Kampf as the 4C immediately makes that line very defensively responsible as well. He's been a beast this year. ROR's line would be expected to produce as bottom 6 scoring is what this team is in desperate need of.
Yeah it would put our centre depth in the positions they should slot into. I love Kampf, but he's ideally in the 4C position instead of 3C

ROR gets you a defensive matchup centre who can also provide scoring. It was just last playoffs where he put up 12 points in 12 games

I am sure a lot of teams would like to have Liljegren right now. He isn't available though. Liljegren alone is likely more valuable then a pending free agent in ROR. Actually not likely...he is.

Most Blues fans are good with a 1st+Prospect for RoR+50%. Especially when when's a UFA at the end of the year.

Same as what we did with Stastny and Shattenkirk.

Why though? We are owning without ROR and the cost of our future is stupid considering there is a good chance we could lose 1 of our big 4 once we try to re up.

No. Full steam ahead, we are good baring any crazy injuries beyond Muzzin.

We have 5 really good forwards and we need 6.

But I admit I don't know if ROR is the answer, with his age and lack of production this year there's a chance he goes full Nick Foligno on us once acquired.

Just a reminder, a lot of RoRs struggles can be contributed to playing against top line players with a low end 2nd liner/high end 3rd liner and a AHLer/Bottom 6er.

The Leafs have 5 very good top 6 forwards.

However If You'll notice I said "top 6"

5 is less than 6.

In this case the player in question can also play center which would give the Leafs a 3 headed monster down the middle If they chose to go that route.

Isn't that what you guys are trying to sell us on all thread?

"You can play him against top lines to free up Matthews and Tavares", that sounds exactly like a scenario where he has to play against top line players with 3rd liners like Engvall.

Is it good enough to beat Tampa? Boston? I don't know if ROR is the answer but Toronto should still be looking at trying to improve for the playoffs. One extra goal in game 6 last season and they are on to the 2nd round and who knows what else.

I actually kind of think it is, especially with the loss of Palat and McDonough but why not upgrade this team?

Sure but Leafs have better 3rd liners than St Louis Josh Leivo and Engvall are not the same thing.

Then of course If you wanted to you could also do.

Bunting Matthews Nylander

Tavares ROR Marner

Or ROR Tavares Marner

It is. Absolutely. Our defensive system is sound enough to get out of our division. ROR is not going to be the difference here. We have a solid top 4 talent upfront and some sound defense. Our goalie situation is miles above where it was last year.

I'm not gonna trade up for the slight difference ROR offers.

Cost is too high. Hope this is a no go.

Even If you believe the Leafs are good enough to beat Tampa and I do, why not make them better?

Because in 2024 we are going to need to alter this club as we LOSE 1 of our top 4 and the pieces you wanna trade up for f***ing ROR (whom we can't afford to retain btw) and the slight difference he brings to our already stacked top 6 is nonsense. We are already dominating. Full steam ahead. No changes please.

I've already seen the script play out to failure where we trade up picks and prospects for Foligno's and the like and nothing much comes of it. Except now we are at the cusp of needing picks and prospects to either develop or trade up to replace Willie.

We don't have a top 6, we have a top 5, it's a great top 5 but 5 is less than 6
