Bennett hit on Stolarz (no supplemental discipline) MOD WARNING IN POST #621

No you don't understand. The way this ends is to physically punish Bennett. I don't care who does it or how many do it. He needs to be enemy number 1 and the leafs might need to sacrifice penalties to get there. He's a rat there's no other way. Bob is a nice guy it's like hurting a poodle.

It doesn’t have to be only one or the other, dare to dream.

That was a nasty hit, and he was rightly suspended for it.

Nurse changed direction in the last instant which made it worse.
Nurse then went on a tirade in the media about how the league doesn't protect players from plays like that and how Reaves is out to hurt players......and then got suspended for an even more egregious hit later in the season.
Nah that Nurse 1 gamer was so soft lol when you watch every angle. Byfield sold it good. Lets not derail this thread.

Leafs would be stupid to play Reaves and I think Sam probably gets 1 game

FLA gets away with a bunch of stuff usually. It's a volume thing. They ain't calling everything (tonight they did)

Anybody remember Ekblad (I think?) literally giving Bouchard a choke hold from behind in their series lol.

Ekblad is literally coming back to the line-up after his 2nd suspension of the last 4 months.
Mikola deserved a longer suspension than Ekblad did for his hit on the helmet in the last series.

Just one guy’s opinion, but:

- Bennett is a greasy player with a history, and that matters here.

- Players crash the crease and collide with the goalie constantly in the playoffs. Contact alone is nothing remarkable.

- Watching Bennett closely, he keeps his arms tucked in and has eyes on the puck all the way through this sequence. At most you could say he didn’t make an effort to avoid the goaltender, but he also didn’t make any clear effort to strike him either. There’s no “shot” here, just contact as they both go for the puck at the same time.

- Knowing that Stolarz had recently been blasted in the face explains a lot. The collision with Bennett doesn’t seem like it would have enough force to send him off on a stretcher. It seems highly likely that he was Lindros’ed into a situation where the next relatively light bit of contact had huge consequences.

- At the end of the day, this looks like incidental contact on a rebound and without Bennett’s reputation in play it would be a stretch to call it a minor penalty. If you want to hit Bennett with a minor to send a message, that’s fine too. But there’s no grounds for anything further here.
The one thing I'll disagree with is that it matters where Bennett was looking. If guys can make no look passes, they can elbow a guy without looking. The only difference is that in the first case you're trying to fool the other team, in the second you're trying to fool the refs.

What a nothing play, these guys were teammates last year people really think this was intentional?

Incidental contact

Should we start suspending players who breath on others ?

Bennet knocked Marchand out of the series last season and now they're the best buds playing together. If he moves on to another team next year he'll just as soon cheapshot him again

Do you really think these guys care who's wearing the other colour jersey?

That’s true. I just think that his body language as a whole (inclusive of his field of vision) shows full concentration on the puck.

As a goaltender who suffered a concussion on a similar play as this i would like to note that the goalie helmet has more padding in the front. There's an extra layer of padding above the eyebrows and forehead. (See image)

Obviously you're most likely to get hit in the head in the front from shots from opposing players so the helmet is designed as such.

However there's less padding on the sides so getting hit from the side in manner Bennett hit Stolarz would be more likely to cause injury imo.

Not just the goalie helmet, but the skull itself is made to take contact to the front, not to the sides.

f*** that don't go after bob. That's acting like Bennett. Dress Reaves and as soon as dipshit hops over the boards for his first shift of the game send Reaves out to take care of the problem. If the league won't protect the goalie or punish the aggressor that's why enforcers exist.
You can't do that he will turtle and the Leafs will get a penalty.
It has to be "accidental" as we have seen.

Proper punishments would take care of it.
I have no faith that will happen. After seeing Marchand abbing 3 or 4 players in a row after the whistle and then Domi getting that "crosschecking" penalty, the officiating in this league is just sad

I was actually fine the Marchand jabs, but then they need to let it all go except for headshots, boarding, high sticks and delay of game

So soft Stolarz pukes on the bench and never returned to the game. Uh...yeah.
You are aware that force is't the only thing that can cause a concussion, right? It doesn't have to be a hard blow to get a concussion, a lighter hit in the right (well wrong) spot can cause one too.

From the first angles I saw, it didn't look like there was a lot of contact, I saw the overhead view just now and it looks worse.. it also doesn't help no one posts full speed replays, just this slow motion shit. I can only judge based on what I see and I am not going to waste my time watching 2 teams I loathe.
