Not terribly happy about this. I've been saying for YEARS that the 2015 draft will be just as deep as 2003, 1991, and 1979. Please note the 12-year patterns. Dean should have given up the 2nds in 2013 and 2014.

Oh well. He's still got a couple of years to acquire more picks for the big, big 2015 draft.

Yeah, let's not let a measly cup run get in the way of a 2nd round pick two years from now.

My guess is

Muzzin-Doughty
Scuderi-Voynov
Regehr-Ellerby
Martinez

Or swap Amart and Ellerby, though I have a feeling they would prefer to shut down opponents over score more with the bottom pairing.

This is what I feel will happen, no problem with it, Regehr-Greene will be a nice pairing once Matt gets back.

Love it, Little pricey.

It's been easy to enter the zone, and cycle against the Kings. Forwards need to start paying a price.

Agree with the pairings...until Greene returns. I don't see those two together at all. I think DL isn't counting on Greene at all and will deal with him if/when he returns. He might also be worried about more injuries as the pressure intensifies with little rest to be had.

This could be one of the best things I've read on this site..lol thank you for the laugh. The price was a bit high but the market dictates the price and this trade was needed in a big way.

We're talking about a draft 2 years from now, and a 2nd round pick in it at that. That's a player that might help in some capacity 3 years from now, if the Kings get really lucky. But most likely it would take 4 to 5 years, minimum.

The Kings won the Cup last year, and owe it to the players on the team today to give them the best possible chance to win it again. If that means trading a 2015 2nd round pick in 2013, you do it every time. Nobody could even possibly predict who the Kings would take with the pick at this point.

I think this is a brilliant move. You don't know who else he might have waived for and the fact is, we don't know if Greene will be back when he's projected to be and we won't know how good he is. Mitchell is likely lost for the season. This also gives Dean leverage this summer with Scuderi. If he wants too much, Regehr can stick around.

i HOPE it's only the season :/

As a side benefit to this trade...I think Ellerby could learn TONS from Mitchell/Regehr as well as Scuds and Greene. All your shutdown D are belong to us!

Guys I have it on good authority that the 2122 draft is going to be the best ever. The stars will align, aliens will come down, and everyone drafted in the first 3 rounds will be an all star.

Welp, everyone else is overpaying so, why not us would apply here. Pretty surprised that DL actually paid so much for a rental, but maybe he thinks he can re-sign RR. In any case, it's not terrible and we can definitely use his toughness on the PK and in the playoffs.

I'm still thinking that Amart or Ellerby may get moved, or perhaps, 44DD. When Greene returns, we'll have 9 dmen. That's one too many imo.

I don't know if it was a typo or what but helene elliott just tweeted that bruce boudreau says willie mitchell is "playing again". Anyone else see that?

I took it as "When Willie Mitchell is back playing with the acquisition of Regehr makes them harder to play against as well as having Greene.

Hi Kings fans. Sabre fan here. Hope Regehr turns out well for you guys. I really like him in the Blue and Gold and was disappointed he got traded , but my Sabres are horrible this year and they needed to get something for him. He's solid and reliable in the his own end. Doesn't have the points anymore, but the guy is still a beast out there. Good luck in the West.

The Ducks broadcast crew of Ahlers and Hayward were just talking about the Kings adding another big body to their blueline. They even think it's a big addition for the Kings.

dang, if the duck broadcast crew likes the kings trade, i'm not sure what to think =)

Scouting report: has looked slow, tentative, and not physical at all. Has been drawing the toughest QoC, but seemed to kill us in our own zone. Good PKer, seems to be well liked, and seems like a guy who's just more suited for the western conference game.

Wishing him the best of luck

Does this trade remind anyone of George McGwire made sending a first round pick (housley or barraso) to the Sabres (Scotty Bowman) for Jerry "king kong" Korab? Korab play 3 or so seasons for us, but man, that turned out to be a baddddd trade =)

But hey, Dean won us the cup last season, so he can do no wrong now

Send your congratulations after the back-to-back ;)
