I'm sure Dubas was involved, just wondering how much Shanahan and the board had a hand in core negotiations.Yeah it wasn't Dubas that negotiated those those deals he's just the fall guy

How was Dubas supposed to negotiate with Matthews and Marner when he gave 11M to Tavares? They are both way better than Tavares and deserved more money. They definitely overpaid for Matthews and Marner but they didn't really have a choice.
Neither contract had anything to do with Tavares. Marner wanted as much as Matthews, and Matthews decided to ignore the discount McDavid gave Edmonton and go for as much as he could get.How was Dubas supposed to negotiate with Matthews and Marner when he gave 11M to Tavares? If Matthews was traded to Arizona, I wonder if Scottsdale would be more inclined to build a new arena and become the new home of the Yotes?
These feel like contradictory statements, or at the least, not fully alignedCJ on Insider trading:
- NOTHING has changed with Auston Matthews regarding his contract extension. He would still like to re-sign and remain a Toronto Maple Leaf like he said on locker clean out day
- Him and his agent are sitting back and seeing how this plays out, would like to know who the GM is and their vision for the team
He is staying a Maple Leaf
Dubas should have said, "JT is the Captain and no one makes more than the Captain." Or, he coasted this year to help develope a possibility for Leafs to trade him. He wants less tax, more status that only NYC, LA, Tampa OR CHICAGO may be able to deliver. Rangers have players to give. How about 2 1st round picks plus Stamkos from Tampa.CJ on Insider trading:

I agree it looks like that, but I'm assuming what CJ means is there's nothing for AM34's camp to do right now since there is no GM. Thus, they'll sit back and wait till that is sorted out, but he would like to remain a Maple LeafThese feel like contradictory statements, or at the least, not fully aligned
You Wings fans are nuts. Why would the Leafs trade Matthews in their own division? It's impossible to gauge the truth amidst all this, but I'll aim somewhere in the middle as a starting point.
Let's say Toronto could get a good but not great center as part of a trade package. But that it took a third team to make everything work. No idea if the Jets are truly wanting to rebuild, but let's tinker with this:
Toronto gets an extended Schiefele, Rasmussen, and 17 overall in 2023 (via DET).
Winnipeg gets both 2024 first rounders from Detroit and a 2024 third rounder from Toronto.
Detroit gets an extended Matthews.
The Leafs save $4M, still have a decent center, and add a young winger and a pick.
Winnipeg gets a great return for a guy they might not be thrilled with anyway.
Detroit now has Matthews-Larkin-Kasper down the middle to accelerate their rebuild.
Nonsense. Player speak. What's he gonna say, I want outta town now?CJ on Insider trading:

AM has shown NOT to be a leader. This season he gave little for a guy who has such incredible talent.
Trade in the next 4 weeks is essential....hasta la Vista, baby
By who? do we not provide links anymore? No way is he offered that little. He'll want his McDavid money he thinks hes worth but shouldnt get it.He was getting overpaid as f*** even if dubas was here
5 years 12-13M being reported
Dude isnt worth his current contract at 8 years with his injury concerns and declining play every playoffs
Matthews going in division to Detroit better return Seider++ or we shouldn’t be doing itIt's impossible to gauge the truth amidst all this, but I'll aim somewhere in the middle as a starting point.

The deal would be better if you took out Karlsson. He had the worst contract in the league going into this season. He was awesome this season but there's no promises he ever produces like that again. I'd take my chances re-investing 11.5M before spending it on a 33 year oldHonestly I'd consider SJS 4th OA pick + Erik Karlsson for Matthews.
E.Karlsson is a playoff warrior and can put a team on his back

Mathews and boston 28th to arizona
For
Keller crouse and 6 th overall and a third round pick
Arizona gets their big star to get them on the way to finding a new home in arizona
A big star local boy could sway some city officials to change their mind
I call total BS, 1 year of AM @50% to a contender in the offseason when you can shape and mold cap structure - it would be a haul.
It also beats getting nothing. You cannot chance this.
They're waiting to see if the new GM will be a pansy like Dubas or someone with 'bite' who'll call them out when they disappear or play soft. What does sitting back and sees how this plays out mean?
The vision of the new GM? Every GM should have the same vision, win the Cup.

Put a condition in the trade that if he resigns Leafs get more, way more……….Considering he has only 1 year left, and probably won't sign with the team he's traded to, we would probably only get a couple 1st round picks and some either washed,up or rookie talent. 8t eould hav3 to be a team that thinks it can win the cup next year. If he had 3 years left we could prob get the moon.
