OT: Restaurant thread

Hmmm, about half the time it looks pretty busy and the other half it's kinda empty. If they have an issue, it's with their image... the decor suggests a very casual (and therefore inexpensive) restaurant. Yet, the prices aren't particularly cheap. Fortunately, the quality of the food is top notch... and you get a free meal on your birthday if you sign up for it.
Agreed, I live right near there and quite like it, but it's not cheap and it feels like you're eating in a Bonanza. They could certainly make it a little less utilitarian.

Haha Bonanza...their Freshtastic Food bar was our go to place to eat when I would come to visit my cousin in the early 90s before my own exodus to Winnipeg. Could fill yourself up quite a bit for 5 bucks or whatever it cost back then.

Speaking of 7-11 food, does anyone remember when they had pizza torpedoes? Damn I miss those, I think in the summer of '98 I probably paid the wages of one employee of the Corydon and Arbuthnot location by buying so many of them
OMG I'd forgotten all about those pizza torpedoes! They were pretty good.

We apparently grew up on the same food...

University student budgeting...took advantage of buffets all the time, especially Uncle Willy's on Pembina, Foody Goody and the Pizza Hut all you can eat Monday pizza special. Yes, my friends and I had no shame (and no money) and would shove pizza slices and chicken into plastic baggies in our backpacks to eat later on lol. Especially crucial towards the end of a term when the student loan funds had run out

Shakey's Pizza on Pembina, many lunches spent there at the buffet, complete with backpack takeout for dinner,.

Now that I think about it, probably the money spent on buffet overloads and "take out" would have been more wisely spent on some sensible groceries, but who was sensible or wise when they were 19 or 20?

I grew up in Westwood and, as such, I get nostalgic for heading out that way for weekend breakfasts now and then. My go to is the Headingly Grill - such great breakfasts! This thread has been a blast to read!

I have fond memories of eating at Papa George's in Osborne Village at 3 am after a night of drinking in the area (usually at Die Maschine). The food wasn't great but it was open late!
Grew up on Mona Lisa pizza on Corydon, which is still fantastic. It was originally a Papa George’s way, way back.

I'm from Brandon, so I gotta give a shout out to Pizza Express, best pasta in the world. Plus Joe Beeverz poutine.

However in Winnipeg, what foods are we talking? No better pizza than Tony's, and that's a legitimate fact that one can't argue. Magic Sushi on Panet. Most food from The Old Spaghetti Factory! Baked Expectations. Nicks Inn. Depends on my mood for food!
