Not just points are down, so is effort. He's not even overly physical anymore. He's bored and lost interest. You often see that with elite prospects who dominated at will in major juniors. If they're still sent back after almost making the NHL team they tend to lose interest in junior hockey, shift their focus towards turning pro next summer. Which is fine I guess.
Yakemchuk still has his good nights but most games it's kinda clear he doesn't care. He's gonna leave it all out there come playoff time but he'll probably continue to coast until then more often than not.
Can't really blame him. Calgary was always gonna make the playoffs and he's clearly looking at the bigger picture. He was fantastic for the Sens during preseason and I think they strongly considered giving him a look for a few regular season games.
These are kids. He's not the first and won't be the last to half ass a junior season after outplaying the league the season before. Ideally those kids should be allowed to play AHL but it is what it is.
