RD Carter Yakemchuk - Calgary Hitmen, WHL (2024, 7th, OTT)

No. NHL scouts and GM didn't think those guys will be better against men in 2 to 5 years. They haven't opined on whether they will be better against juniors in a month.
Yakemchuk had no issues playing against grown men throughout the entirety of NHL preseason. This is just a good example of GMs being too cute. You don’t leave off top 10 drafted players, it’s nonsensical.

It's a bizarre decision to not only exclude him from that initial group, but also going with Parekh as the first sub today. I like Parekh as a prospect and I think his game is well suited to junior, but Yak would be a dominant force with a better supporting cast. That much was clear in the Sens' pre-season where he regularly looked levels above NHL competition.

I think it's more a case of the selection team just doesn't like him. At this point I don't think it's based on ability.

I bet if Staios never complained that Yak would’ve been the first replacement.

What clowns. No dissent allowed or otherwise you’re punished.
