I think his wife had issues with her pregnancy. That could be threatening to both wife and baby. And with everything going well,... he is just thrilled and back to playing his best hockey. I'm really happy for him.
considering Nemeth got covid.... which means his very pregnant wife also probably had covid and that shit is very scary.

As it pertains to the backup goalie, the biggest thing to me about who it should be the rest of the year is what happens if Igor goes down. They're in all likelihood f***ed if he does but they still need the best option available and that would be Georgiev especially if he's playing every other day. I don't think it matters who goalies the 4 or so games the rest of the year, the potential starter if need be is the more important issue. Kinkaid is just terrible and I would absolutely not choose him in the playoffs if we got to that doomsday scenario.

This is beautiful. “This winning is unsustainable! We rely too much on Igor!” Well, it turns out they needed some actual talent in certain spots throughout the lineup! Who would’ve thunk it?!

That chart doesn’t make sense to me, I thought 50% CF was the baseline and anything above is good, below is bad.

Want to see what this looks like at the end of April.

Also helps that they've got bodies coming back in the not too distant future. Rooney can stay the F away, but Kakko should help.

That is because Georgiev is sporting an .890 save % this year and that irks people especially when he is making 2.5 mil. His last 2 games of .846 and .765 just makes it even worse and many of the goals allowed are just so awful. If he was sporting a .915 the complaints would be far less. Many on this board hate Ryan Strome also because of his play. "It's not personal Sonny, it's strictly business".
You still haven't explained why an objectively worse goaltender should replace him.

You really think him being a giant anchor on this team has nothing to do with it?
When people want to replace him with somebody considerably worse -like, not even in the same stratosphere- yes.

Kinkaid is one of the worst NHL goaltenders of the last 20 years.

chytil was solid again and ive said a few times hes completely changed his game. i was very critical of him early and like 10 games ago a lightbulb went off and hes doing everything i criticized him for 55 games of not doing. been much better competing for ice and pucks as well as supporting them and getting lower and functional d zone coverage that jumpstarts the breakout.

mentioned laf specifically though because he was showing things we havent seen much if any of and looking great doing it. hes taken a few leaps this year would love to see him score one on a play like those soon
Since Gallant told Chytil to play like Zibanejad, Chytil has been notably better. Chytil is makig more plays and feels like he has the confidence of the coach behind him. Now, with the deadline acquisitions, Chytil has more consistent linemates that are much better than McKegg and Gautier.

georgiev has been one of the worst nhl goaltenders of the last 20 years this season as well. outside of carolina he almost always gets the easier game too. thankfully he wont be a ranger past this summer.

I don't mind the play by play. Love Albert and can handle Jones and Olczyk. It's the morons in the studio that piss me off. I just change the channel between periods.
Yeah thats basically what annoyed me, Kenny Albert and Ed-O are great, I kinda just want Sam and JD forever but not gonna happen.

You guys keep bringing up Kinkaid, what about Adam Huska? Why not give him a shot?

He sucks too.

It isn't hard to find a reliable backup. JG overplayed his hand big time with Georgiev a few years ago and now we're either going to have to let him walk for nothing or get back virtually nothing (other than some cap space, which is needed.)

I sincerely hope Rooney is not a regular when he comes back

He's been atrocious this year. He adds absolutely no value besides being a barely adequate center at the NHL level. His puck skills are f***ing awful, Reaves has better puck skills. He was a huge reason the 4th line couldn't ever sustain a forecheck.

Seriously he sucks and I really hope he doesn't draw in.

Why not give him a chance tho, maybe catch lightning in a bottle, what do we have to lose? 2 points? we're already in the playoffs.

Strome coming back is also going to be a boost. I still like Strome.

If Strome comes back and they put him back with Panarin, I am going to peel the skin off of my butt and leave it in Gallant's favorite coffee mug.

Eh, it's people being fed up with Georgiev thinking that can't get any worse. It's also the grass is always greener type thing too.

There is definitely now a gap with goalies in the system, mostly because Huska, Wall, or Lindbom never materialized. They struck out on all of them.

Garand, Boyko, and Ollas are too far away to be thinking backup in the next two years.

I do wonder if there are any targets playing in Europe to consider. Also, with who knows what is going on with the KHL, will there be a few that want tog et out of there. Similar to how the Leafs signed Sateri (later claimed by the Coyotes).

There will likely be a few guys that are on expiring deals that could be looking for deals.

In reality, they should be looking for another Georgiev. Not in the sense of what he is now, but what he was. Undrafted, playing in Europe and excelling at a young age. Maybe the same way with a college free agent goalie. A vet will still be needed as a backup for next year, but finding an ELC solution is the best bet for this team.

We've had worse players.

Tanner Glass had an entire ass 82 game season where the team was better shorthanded than with him on the ice, which is hard to do if you tried.

Glass wasn't hated like this.
