We were tired and sloppy.

I just would wish Panarin would just shoot as soon as he gets the chance. The hesitation kills me....

Despite all of his success.... imo he's capable of so much more
Kovalev 2.0 albeit not quite the same .

I've got no feel for how these playoffs are going to go. This team has way more high-end skill than the 13-14 and 14-15 teams though it's obvious those teams were way more filled out and played as a team on all cylinders but ever since the trade deadline, this team is night and day and it'll only get better as they get healthier. All that being said, the conference I think is as tough as it's been both in terms of how good the teams at the top end are and how good every single team is. There's not a single team that'll make the playoffs that I would be shocked won in the 1st round.

So yeah, I'm insanely excited about this team because I think they could really do damage but it would not shock me to see them lose in 5 in round 1 and it would also not shock me to see them win the conference. That's how open-ended this is to me.
I think everyone sees it the same way. It's going to be a very competitive and unpredictable playoff year for the eastern conference. I'm glad we are in it. But my expectations are in check.

I think if we keep our crease clear in our own end, and Shesterkin stays healthy, we can beat anyone.

Chytil was very good. There was a sequence in the first period where he did a great job defensively down low in the Rangers zone and then generated offense in the offensive zone on the same shift. I wish I knew how to make and edit videos. Chytil had some good stretches last night. This player is finally showing signs of getting his game together and the media wants to trade him.
He likely knows he has to have better efforts if he wants to be a Ranger next season . I still think they keep Gauthier around with the hope he can find the next step up in his game next season . Size and speed....and with a slight hunger ....he might just blossom yet . He will be a cheap player . It's worth the risk IMO for a 4th line role or 13th forward or when Reaves sits.

Won't stop some here from screaming to bring in Kinkaid.

I think there's a few camps on here for sure - I'm a self proclaimed defender of goalies (and Georgie) and yet still I don't hate the guy. But there's something there last night with Georgie for me and the team that I'd give Georgie and the team a small break. It won't happen, I'm not an NHL coach, just IMO.

sounds about right
LMAO...if I run across Turk on the golf course I'm going to bring it up. I have a list of questions to ask him ...that is one of them . I'm also going to quiz him on Panarin at boot camp....Georgiev performance....What other obvious ones did I miss ?

Come on... I doubt that ever happened

Yeah, I never said that. I figured a 3-goalie rotation would allow the cream to rise to the top.

I don't disagree with the numbers. However, what I'm looking at is his time playing with us. He had a pretty decent record for when he was called up, and has actually looked pretty stellar in Hartford. Not only that, if I'm being honest, I like his attitude. I also thought we played pretty well in front of him. If you go back and watch clips of when he was up with us, most of the time he's smiling and talking with the guys on the bench. That kind of stuff goes a long way.
That's probably because he couldn't believe he was in the NHL.

I don't think so. Once Kakko comes back, we have the following 12:

1. Mika
2. Kreid
3. Vatrano
4. Strome
5. Panarin
6. Copp
7. Chytil
8. Laf
9. Kakko
10. Goodrow (I think he stays in the lineup for sure)
11. Motte? (I think he stays in the lineup for now)
12. Rooney? Hunt? Gauthier? Reaves? Brodzinski?

It's hard to say who makes up #11 and #12 in that list. I think spot #11 is Motte's to lose with how fast he's been skating. He's been excellent.

On the other side, it really depends on the type of matchup we need. I can see Reaves some nights, Brodzinski some others. Rooney may be on the outside looking in. Personally, I doubt Gauthier gets any starts going forward at this point either. He just never generated enough offense, which is a genuine shame since I wanted him to put it together.
No way Motte comes out. Kakko is automatically going to draw back in, and he should, but I think Rooney may have to play himself back on vs Hunt, Brodz, Reaves and McKegg. He should be back in based on that but we'll have to see how he looks.

I could see this lineup when all is healthy:

Kreider-Mika-Vatrano/Kakko
Panarin-Strome-Copp
Lafreniere-Chytil-Kakko/Vatrano
Goodrow-Rooney-Motte

Those are 4 lines you can roll all night.

That was so obviously because they wanted Shesterkin to start the home opener. Igor started 8 of the first 10 games this season and Geo only played the first one because of a back to back. Last season Igor only started 6 of the first 10 games with 0 back to backs.

David Quinn is a f***ing cretin

To be fair and I hate Quinn last year but Igor had a shit start to the season. His first game we lost 4-0 to the Islanders with Igor in net and the next game we won 5-0 against the same Islanders with Georgiev in net.

They probably see what I see which is that he sucks.

His last season of any consequence in the NHL (-24.94 GSAx) makes Georgiev's current season (-7.62 GSAx) look like Hasek.

Georgiev's career GSAx is actually still a net positive (1.69). That isn't good, mind you. It's firmly below replacement-level. That being said, Kinkaid's career total of -44.8 GSAx ranks him as the 16th worst goaltender to see regular minutes since the lockout.

The idea that Kinkaid is any better is fueled by personal distaste for Georgiev.
This is true but you can't blame people for hating on Georgiev with his horrible play and off ice stuff. Those first 2 goals allowed last night were ECHL level. .846 save % last night after a .765 the game before and the guy is making 2.5 mil a year.

There's no buts here. Kinkaid is much worse by any objective measure.

People want Kinkaid up because he's super thrilled and smiling about being terrible, which is a weird hill to die on.

If I was having the worst year of my life, I wouldn't be laughing and high-fiving either.

Because it's Georgiev, it's "off ice stuff."

Yeah, it's going to be a bloodbath in the east for sure. Every one of the teams is likely to finish with 100 points or more which is nuts. IMO the Rangers are every bit as good as the others, especially after the TDL additions and assuming Kakko is healthy. That being said Pitt is still a very tough draw in the first round though so it is conceivable that they may not advance. So many factors and variables determine playoff success. Goaltending, officiating, puck luck, match ups, injuries, etc. I have no idea how it's going to turn out but I'm going to enjoy the ride nonetheless.

Strome isn't being taken away from Panarin after two years. Gallant isn't doing that. Copp will remain on that line. That's a solid line. Kakko will probably be a massive wildcard. RW1 or 3? Or...4? I kid on the last one...kind of. The point being, Gallant has much more depth. Also, gotta love the 5v5 play becoming a strength of this team. Why? Because they finally have good players!!!!

I just doubt that Gallant will put Kaako in a top 6 spot right away. He needs time to get back into a rhythm.

Georgiev is terrible and making 2.5 million and that adds to it also. Thats a lot of money to spend on a backup goalie who can't stop a beachball. Btw it was off ice stuff though. Did he not have an altercation with a teammate that eventually caused that player to sit the rest of the year? Georgiev is no angel in all of this. I'm just stating why a lot of people can't stomach the guy.

Right. We all know why people don't like him. You just said it. They blame him for DeAngelo ending up in limbo, which has been debunked a million times over.
