Just imagine what management must think of Kinkaid.
They probably see what I see which is that he sucks.

His last season of any consequence in the NHL (-24.94 GSAx) makes Georgiev's current season (-7.62 GSAx) look like Hasek.

Georgiev's career GSAx is actually still a net positive (1.69). That isn't good, mind you. It's firmly below replacement-level. That being said, Kinkaid's career total of -44.8 GSAx ranks him as the 16th worst goaltender to see regular minutes since the lockout.

The idea that Kinkaid is any better is fueled by personal distaste for Georgiev.

Won't stop some here from screaming to bring in Kinkaid.

It honestly looked like he didn't know much about that save. Just hit him in the shoulder, he didn't even seem to be looking in the right direction. Bertuzzi just missed, thankfully.
80% of goaltending is maintiang the right focus, reading the play and getting in the right spot based on the read. From that distance you can't expect a goalie to snag the puck with their glove or whack it with their blocker. Give credit where credit is due. If Geo had been backing into his net like he's been doing often while giving up softies that would have went by him easily. He was supremely shitty last night with 2 epically soft goals and then another softie backing into his net scared AF (not quite as epically soft though) but he was in good position for that Bertuzzi shot. He still makes the 10 bell saves, it's the super low % ECHL caliber goals that are the real issue with him.

Also on Panarin's goal, Eddie O mentioned Mika got away with one because of one hand on the stick. The f***, he didn't grab the guy, wrap him up, or turn him, he didn't touch him with the free hand AT ALL what the hell is that stupidity? He had one hand on the stick because he reached ahead to poke the puck away from the d before they could make a play.

And yea, Fox likely got away with a bit of a grab on the tie up near our net, it's happened numerous times to us as well. What about when Fox shimmied his way to the net earlier in the game o zone and clearly got tripped up and fell to his knees? Are main boarders annoyed about that one too? You win some you lose some with the refs. Our guys have been tripped up a few times the past few games where they haven't completely lost their balance (Goodrow too) and haven't gotten the call because of it. Do you need to completely lay out to get a tripping call now?

What an actual loser this guy is. His boy is force fed minutes up the *** because that team is wretched, and he's playing with the two best players on the team. Our guy gets 13-14 mins per game and never sniffs the PP. It's amazing how even the 5v5 goals don't get accounted for. Who gave this bozo a checkmark? 20:29 average ICE for Raymond in two games against us while playing every PP. 1 point. Yea, he's the best player in the draft, it's over.

One more edit:

Lafreniere in March: 15-3-6-9 with 14:25 per game, PP2 time, maybe 25 seconds to get something in the back of the net, lucky if he's part of the third unit to go out in OT

Raymond in March 14-5-3-8 -14 with 18:43 per game, gobs of PP1 minutes, gobs of OT mins.

He was as impressive as Chytil was. I gave them both stars tonight. Those two are making a name for themselves. I pray when others return from injury, he does not break these two up. I would really love it, if Kakko was reunited with them when he returns. The Kids Line 2.0
chytil was solid again and ive said a few times hes completely changed his game. i was very critical of him early and like 10 games ago a lightbulb went off and hes doing everything i criticized him for 55 games of not doing. been much better competing for ice and pucks as well as supporting them and getting lower and functional d zone coverage that jumpstarts the breakout.

mentioned laf specifically though because he was showing things we havent seen much if any of and looking great doing it. hes taken a few leaps this year would love to see him score one on a play like those soon

just a joke about the hard backcheck on veleno that ended with them crashing into georgiev

his face matches his salty bitchy tantrum

Hearing the commentators discuss the fact that Laf is first in the team in 5 on 5 goals with shock and disbelief was akin to browsing the main board. I got a kick out of that.
Yeah that was great, nice of Kenny to bring it up. The analysts have to cover the whole league so they clearly don't follow everything as closely as they should and get swept up in narratives.

Winning these games in spite of Georgiev is big. It's almost a little bit of self induced adversity.

Your goalie is shit right now, go pick him up and win a game. Cause in every run the Rangers made, Hank did have a game where he was bad, so Shesterkin is going to have that happen come a playoff series. The team needs to be able to win or at least make it close in spite of that.

One other thing, can they just not play Strome when he is healthy? I'd love to see Kakko as the RW on that line with Copp and Panarin. The rest of the lines just fit. Panarin would have two workers on his line in Kakko and Copp, both great on the boards and on the forecheck. 3rd line has been humming. Mika-Kreider-Vatrano have been very strong. Motte and Hunt on a the 4th line is a good forechecking, defensive line, where someone like Brodzinski or Rooney could fill in the C role. I don't think Strome fits on a 4th line like that.

I'm also glad @Synergy27 brought that up...awesome moment. Could tell Eddie and Jones were a bit taken aback.

Though in their defense, that was also news to me.

does rooney automatically make the team?
I don't think so. Once Kakko comes back, we have the following 12:

1. Mika
2. Kreid
3. Vatrano
4. Strome
5. Panarin
6. Copp
7. Chytil
8. Laf
9. Kakko
10. Goodrow (I think he stays in the lineup for sure)
11. Motte? (I think he stays in the lineup for now)
12. Rooney? Hunt? Gauthier? Reaves? Brodzinski?

It's hard to say who makes up #11 and #12 in that list. I think spot #11 is Motte's to lose with how fast he's been skating. He's been excellent.

On the other side, it really depends on the type of matchup we need. I can see Reaves some nights, Brodzinski some others. Rooney may be on the outside looking in. Personally, I doubt Gauthier gets any starts going forward at this point either. He just never generated enough offense, which is a genuine shame since I wanted him to put it together.

Rangers better not entertain signing any free agents this off season.

Number one priority is to resign Motte, Copp, and Vatrano.

Especially with all the talent we have. These players win you Stanley cups. Perfect fits for what we lacked pre deadline.

Chris Drury I’m sorry I doubted you!
Those guys are all free agents.

Our PK has been slipping. He can help us there.
Only goalie in Hartford with a winning record.

played 31 games and had 20 wins.
Georgiev has a winning record in the NHL.
He claimed there was a 1a and 1b situation at the start of last season for justification for the 50/50 split that the all star and the sieve were getting
So did Gallant this year. Remember when Georgiev started the first game against Washington?

If they continue to play like this, I'm 100% behind them.

Their games since the deadline have been highly palatable.

And I don't just mean because they're winning. If you have to win all the time to be engaged, you're in the wrong hobby. That being said, this is a product and I consume it to be entertained. Getting outshot badly while Igor does flips and twirls bores me.

Since they've added more depth and badly needed speed, they're playing real hockey.

Full speed ahead!
Isn't it wild what replacing below-replacement-level players with actual NHL talent can do to your lineup? Injuries definitely did not help, but they've basically been playing all year with 1/3 of their forwards being sub-NHL talents.

That was so obviously because they wanted Shesterkin to start the home opener. Igor started 8 of the first 10 games this season and Geo only played the first one because of a back to back. Last season Igor only started 6 of the first 10 games with 0 back to backs.

David Quinn is a f***ing cretin

I've got no feel for how these playoffs are going to go. This team has way more high-end skill than the 13-14 and 14-15 teams though it's obvious those teams were way more filled out and played as a team on all cylinders but ever since the trade deadline, this team is night and day and it'll only get better as they get healthier. All that being said, the conference I think is as tough as it's been both in terms of how good the teams at the top end are and how good every single team is. There's not a single team that'll make the playoffs that I would be shocked won in the 1st round.

So yeah, I'm insanely excited about this team because I think they could really do damage but it would not shock me to see them lose in 5 in round 1 and it would also not shock me to see them win the conference. That's how open-ended this is to me.

I don't disagree with the numbers. However, what I'm looking at is his time playing with us. He had a pretty decent record for when he was called up, and has actually looked pretty stellar in Hartford. Not only that, if I'm being honest, I like his attitude. I also thought we played pretty well in front of him. If you go back and watch clips of when he was up with us, most of the time he's smiling and talking with the guys on the bench. That kind of stuff goes a long way.

There was nothing stopping them from starting him in the home opener. It's not like Henrik never played on back to back nights. He's a #1 goalie and was as rested as he could be at the start of the season.

Besides that, Gallant has said that he came in with the mindset that either could be the starter. He mentioned it in one of the recent post-game/pre-game interviews, IIRC, and I'm sure he has said it at other times as well.

And that's with Shesty having a full year last year as the starter. The year before with Quinn, Shesty had played a total of 12 games. Of course he's going to say that both players are fighting for the #1 job. He's not going to deny Georgiev a chance at it, even if he believes in his own mind that it's a longshot.
