Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Toronto

The defense simply looked exploited tonight. I thought they were gong to be much sharper than in the Carolina game.
I was really wrong.

Yea no, thats not what happened at all.

If we collapsed in the zone, maybe we wouldve had some guys in front of the net -- and wouldnt have had Del Zotto absolutely lost up the ice on 3 of the goals.

If we had some guys who cared we would have had someone in from of the net.

Really?

That line was on fire for the past few games.

What i'm getting at is that Gaborik should have been playing on RW all along if Torts seemingly has no problem playing Nash on the left since he's been gone.

I simply do not believe that you have to be McIlrath to try knocking an opposition player down. If that's the case, not encouraging at all.
Tonight, they were pretty well all wusses as a unit.

No piss and vinegar, no desire to punish. Never will I understand that,

I saw many, many mental mistakes tonight starting from Hank on out. I think fatigue played a part tonight (3rd game in 4 nights), especially playing a fast, offensively talented team like Toronto, who like Montreal, we don't match up pretty well against.
The defense looked lost, and I thought DZ had an especially terrible game tonight, the first in a a long while.
We need to thighten up on Wednesday, and take advantage of last change, and play Nash away from Phaneuf as much as possible. Also, we need production from others besides our top line, and I propose playing Brassard occasionaly on the 2nd line. We need to find more ice time for this guy, as he is very creative with the puck, at least more consistently than Richards.
Finally, I think the PP looked pretty good again tonight, but we need to shoot more, and look for deflections and rebounds with a guy like Clowe in front of the net. I thought overall, we played on the perimeter for most of the game, especially the first 2 periods. We need to get to the net more, and score more dirty goals.

If Clowe scored, would have been a different game. Golden opportunities for us. McDonagh hit a post, Girardi hit a post, Clowe missed, then got robbed, Stepan's stick broke, Nash missed the last second snap shot, so many missed chances, we could have won that game.
