This gives us another right handed shot option on the PP to go with Stepan, Boyle and Girardi.
we have our Poulliet 2.0
plays both wings and is a freakin' RIGHT handed shot.
streaky scorer but has a few 20+ goal seasons to his name.
AV is probably gonna play him up and down the lineup throughout the season.
most likely, our line up is gonna look suit:
Stepan, Brassard, Lombardi, Moore
Nash, Kreider, Hagelin, Glass
MSL, Zuke, Stempniak, Miller
13th= Fast? Nash/Stempniak can flip wings.
If Girardi keeps getting powerplay minutes this year then something is seriously wrong.
Yes he would average more than 40 if he played every game. He hasn't done that much in his career. To assume he would do that next season is reaching given his prior history. That being said I do LOVE this signing.
But the 4th line provides offense too. Boyle and Moore arent you're average 4th liners in that they both had offensive roles not too long ago.
Stempniak is not just a scorer. Hes versatile. Playing with Moore will give them a chance to make plays and defend in key spots.
If Lombardi plays RW on the 4th line, then Miller is centering the 3rd line..
We'll have to wait and see.
There's your missing 3rd line winger. It's not ideal, but it's a pretty good get considering the circumstances.
Stemp used to play with Glass in the ECAC.
Anyone think we could be giving him a base salary with the potential to earn bonuses that would end up as a cap hit next season? I remember reading somewhere that Sather or Gorton said they offered that type of a contract to a player although said player ultimately signed elsewhere.
Rangers got older this offseason. But all four veterans are notorious character guys and good teammates. Yes, including Glass.
No long terms deals though. Amazing how much Sather has grown.
pretty sure he doesn't qualify for a contract with bonuses
forget the exact rules, but i think you can only give those deals on ELC, over 35 contracts and guys that are coming off long term injuries
i'm not overly concerned with which center stempniak plays with, nor do i have an issue with the tremendous depth of having him on the 4th line...
i am concerned though over wasting the offensive talents of MSL by putting him with a non-offensive center
MSL played most of last season with two rookies in TB and was fine. PPG player in fact.
We're still quite a young team though.
