He provides next to nothing. Just bleh.
Agreed, Boyle/Pouliot/Pyatt ALL need to go.

How many true 4th liners provide something in all three zones? Probably only a handful.
How about being good in one zone and at least somewhat effective in the others. I understand he has some value, but not in this system.
Boyle is very good in the defensive zone and solid enough in the neutral zone. He sucks in the offensive zone but can at least cycle the puck along the boards when needed.
You just have an issue with me correcting you in saying it was a mistake. It wasn't.
Watch this video, scroll to :35 seconds in and watch what Brent Johnson talk about and demonstate what a goalie is supposed to do when faced in the same situation Henrik was tonight.
Play it hard, and as high off the glass as possible. 'Play it' (hard back up the glass)
Be a little more humble about subject matter you don't know much about. You might learn something.

For those who think Duguay knows nothing, he sure is making an awful lot of sense right now.
How is he solid enough in the neutral zone? He can't handle or make a pass further than 8 feet. He dumps it in and chases. The league is moving away from this type of style. The team is moving away from it. Why keep him?
Seriously, what does he provide that a player like Hrivik can't provide?
They don't need him for the PK.
Callahan
Hagelin
Moore
Stepan
Dorsett
Pyatt
Zuccarello has Pk'd
Hrivik can PK.
What's he saying?
How is the league moving away from dumping the puck in? I've never heard that before.
Boyle is fine on the 4th. I get the RAGEQUIT when he gets played higher up than that, though. At least AV seems to know how to use him and what his limitations are. Boyle is better on the PK than just about everyone on this team (why do you think he averages 10 seconds more SH/TOI than any other forward and has almost 20 minutes more than he next closest guy?), too.
But yeah. Let's dump a reasonably priced, contributing player for some unknowns.
I get dumping Pyatt. He blows. I even get dumping Poop (even though I don't mind him). Boyle? That's really silly unless we are trading him for an asset.

That the Rangers need more intensity in their game. They will be okay some games, but when they meet a more physical team like the Devils, they have to up their compete level physically to meet that.
I agree with that.
He isn't reasonably priced. 1.5 million for a 4th line PK specialist is not reasonable.

Which player that could conceivably be used in place of Boyle would be competent at faceoffs. I wonder who that player is that is in the system right now.
I didn't say waive him. He should be dealt. He doesn't fit and like blueshirts said, he is a PK specialist at this point.
No Boyle sucks in pretty much all three zones on even strength especially in an uptempo transitional system which relies heavily on the center man supporting the Dmen up the middle. They have moved him to 4th line wing for a reason: He is immobile. Even on wing, he isn't very good on the forecheck where he constantly gets outmuscles on the wall or can't handle a pass for a scoring chance. He consistently kills scoring chances or offensive pressure.
Boyle is pretty good on the PK where his big size makes it difficult for point shooters to get pucks through or make lateral passes to the half boards. Even then, Boyle struggles at times with making proper clears.
Boyle is what he is: a 4th line PKing specialist who is decent at face-offs. Everything else in the game he is subpar.
