For real.

I'm totally ready for dank memes born from the fires of us sucking big time.

It’s going to be completely next level. Just the Mittlestadt shi* on it’s own, not even counting our certain doom we will be facing this season.

I am buckled up.

The Athletic just put up their top 50 prospects. Another list with Mittelstadt in the top 5 and Lias nowhere to be found.

For what is worth they have Wahlstrom as the 12th best prospect and Kravstov not even an honorable mention.

Shesterkin nowhere to be found either. While Samsonkv Sorokin Hart are on there.

Yeah, that smacks of bad research. I don’t mind if they put Mittelstadt at 5 and Andersson at 45, even if I think it’s unjustified to have them that far apart. But to not have him on there at all means either A) they did not pay attention to last season at all or B) they’re relying on the individual team writers and don’t trust Carp.

Andersson played most of the season in Sweden, Kravtsov played in Russia. My problem with these lists is that it's focused too much on players in NA-leagues and/or international tournaments. These lists are meaningless because nobody can objectively compare all these prospects who are scattered all over the world.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with Lundkvist's showing at the WJSS. His best play by far was in the SHL last year, and the coach of Sweden himself said he didn't really like his play at the U18 level. Keep in mind a lot of these kids are in mid-summer form too. Kravtsov has had a less than great start to the Sochi Hockey Open with 0 points and 3 penalties in 2 games. Lots of guys are far from top form currently.

He played one pretournament game and had a hat trick in the third period I think, then he was scratched the next game, and then cut with a bunch of other guys, but it seems like he’s a lock to make the WJC team (along with a bunch of the other guys cut at the same time as him) and Finland is using this tournament to figure out the rest of the roster

Oh okay, good. He looked really good alongside Kakko!!

Are we still litigating Andersson vs Mittelstadt?

I have tons of data n' shiet to back up my opinion, but I'm gonna keep it simple: I pick the CHAD Andersson over the virgin Mittlestadt 10/10 times.

He played a really solid game Rykov did, I was impressed with his composed style of play. His style if compared to recent Rangers would resemble more of a McDonagh type of hockey with a touch less grit and touch more offensive senses.

Regarding the list, I think it was done specifically to generate conversation and debate.

A list like that cant be that Pejorative Slured without being half click bait.

No stock in that list at all.

NONE

I've seen plenty of lists with Andersson in the top 25. I'm not concerned.

But I also know the Athletic's reporting is iffy at best, which is one reason I did not renew after my free trial.

Worth noting that on the main boards prospect poll Chytil, Andersson, and Kravtsov were all just voted to be top 30 prospects. Chytil was 13 and Andersson and Kravtsov were 27 and 28 I think

It’s Pronman and Wheeler, the former being one who gushes over raw skill rather than hockey ability and the latter having a slight skew towards NA bias.

I like both for their different perspectives, but they both have their warts.

I'm curious to see how long of a shelf life some of the social media analysts have.

Hot takes can generate responses for a fairly long stretch of time, but being seen as a long-term resource on prospects generally comes down to batting averages over a long enough period of time.

Can't wait for Andersson to lay a big hit on Mittlestadt, having him skate back slowly to the bench, crying like the little bitch he is.

It’s worked for Craig Button for how long now? :D

I agree, but then again, this is a really inexact and imperfect science. Do you know of anyone that actually has a solid prediction or projection rate for these kids over time?
