Bob said we want a depth LHD that can play the right side who can average 17 minutes a night

These are the names I came up with that fit that critera, may have missed some so feel free to add

Soucy, Gustafsson, Brodie, Schmidt and Oleksiak. With Oleksiak I'm not positive he's played a ton on the right side

Plenty of landmines in that group

Only interested in Oleksiak out of that crop mentioned. Everybody else especially Soucy is meh

There's upgradable options out there available. They're just too stubborn to admit that those upgrades are far more better than a Skinner/Pickard tandem. Just like how asscrack Jason Gregor tried to dispute that Blackwood wouldn't be an upgrade over either of our two goalies.

Well theres a two fold problem. One they are delusional when it comes to their goaltending. And Two, they have done a masterful job of poor cap management to not have any flexibility with deal with all the nmc they gave out and deal with Kane. Job well done Mr. Jackson.

Overpaying for a retained Vejmelka is the only thing that makes some sense (that is relatively easy to pull off cap wise) from Edmontons point of view, goalie wise. But Utah probably wants to make the playoffs and who knows if they want Skinner.
makes no sense for Utah...They are in the hunt for a playoff spot. They aren't trading their goalies.

Yeah, we're f***ed going into the post season with our current tandem if it does remain that case by the time TDL is done.

I would like to see him coached by someone other than Schwartz before tossing him aside. If he still isn’t good enough then that’s that. Whether or not you think he had anything to do with last years run, the team still made it that far with him fending the pipes.

The team survived Vancouver because of Pickard and a powerhouse team in front of him that took him to Dallas kicking and screaming, not because of his .833 series save percentage (lowest any series-winning goalie had...maybe ever?) or his .882 save percentage in Game 7 (and this isn't 1983 so that number sucks).

And we both know we won't be seeing him coached by anyone else, therefore, time to toss him aside and bring in someone who can either tell Schwartz to f*** off or a new guy who can play well from the deadline through the playoffs...and hopefully also tell Schwartz to f*** off.

I understand that he wasn't good vs. Vancouver. But here's the thing, Schwartz scouted Jack Campbell. Who's to say Skinner's replacement isn't just Campbell 2.0? The Oilers haven't taken goaltending seriously since... well, probably the glory days.

Mike Smith told Schwartz to pound sand and nothing changed. The guy needs to go first and foremost.

Mike Smith actually had amazing numbers given how bad the defense was during his run. Skinner managed to play worse in the playoffs than Smith POST-Ekholm. Let that sink in. Even Campbell outplayed Skinner in the 2023 playoffs...

I'm of the mind that he really wasn't as great as people make him out to be, but that's just me.

Anyway, we're not going to agree on this. Schwartz needs to go and anyone he's scouting needs to be avoided like the plague.

What's even worse is when you check the advanced stats for how the team plays and defends especially, there's no way Skinner should be this poor in net also. Its absolutely criminal how poor he is despite the Oilers being a relatively good team in those metrics.

They already have for two postseasons, excluding the Dallas series...which still had an .810 turd from Stu in it, but he did play great in that series. However, even Akira Schmid played great against the Rangers and a better goalie in Shesterkin in 2022 and he still found his way to the minors the following season...

Other than that, Stu imploded in three out of six playoff rounds: Vegas, Vancouver, and Florida...in the .800s in the first three games, including an .826 in Game 3 where the Oil only lost by a single goal and McDavid had two assists. An .869 would've tied it. Sure, he played fine in the next three games, when the team's chances of winning a cup were reduced to a single digit thanks in part to his collapse.

LOL if you don't think Florida let their guard down after being up 3-0. Stu's career .894 playoff save percentage is just diarrhea icing on the shit cake.

Lol... judging SPCT on a game by game basis is about as stupid as judging a point per game player based on the 30% of games that they score zero points.

Doesn't matter what you tell him. He's as pro-Stuart Skinner as it gets
My position is "People get angry at Skinner for the org failing to properly address goaltending for the 20th time".

If management's vision came to fruition he's backing up Jack Campbell. But Campbell shit the bed furiously and now we are where we are.

Your position on Skinner is "it's someone's else fault when he lets in a goal" or "doesn't matter which goalie we get until Schwartz is gone"

Prime Hasek could be on the market and you would still say the same thing

I agree, that list is rough

Oleksiak makes all kinds of sense. Signed to a reasonable price this year and next, big, physical, mobile

Ekholm - Bouchard
Nurse - Kulak
Oleksiak - Emberson
Klingberg

It's not a masterpiece, but I like it

I thought this board had already run off people with insanely myopic takes like this. Unbelievable that you actually typed this and hit "post reply."

You know overtime, exists, right? And in the playoffs, get this, it lasts as long as it takes until someone actually scores!

I'm more mad with Skinner when he has to yap about feeling good about his game after a loss when he continues to stink rather then addressing and owning up that its his fault for the poor goaltending and that he knows he has to play better.
Man tf up, Stu.
