Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

What does Jack Campbell got to do with prime Hasek? You don't need a goalie coach to know how good prime Hasek is. If he's available, you sign or trade for him

That's like a GM needs to ask their scouts first to know if prime McDavid was worth signing if he's available lol
But he's their scout. What's the point of a scout if they aren't listening to him?

The Oilers haven't gotten goaltending right in decades. There's a reason for that.

Frank: Oilers can go and spend kane's money or not.
No real clarify about that in regard yet.

Bob: will still add a D, doesn't have to be RHD, but can play RS/LS, not on a expiring contract, could be a player that doesn't have a good relationship with their current team also (?)

Frank: oilers have to attach an asset to move kane out. Not in the realm of possibility that the Frederic move is the ONLY move they make.

I mean yeah you're not wrong, but them running back this tandem is gonna end the oilers playoffs in R1-R2.
Probably, I'm not sure if the team is good enough anyway tbh. I still maintain that their Cup window closed last year the moment the clock hit zero in Game 7.

Delusional to think an organization might fix its most obvious flaw. That’s just sad.
Yes because there's never been any indication that they're at all interested in upgrading the goaltending.

I'd say McDrai can still do wonders, but they're heavily anchored down by the poorest tandem in the league.

Gibson has been linked to the Oilers. But Stan said on Servalli radio that he's good with the tandem. Maybe he's just not showing his cards. Pickard starting 2 straight. Who knows

But I do agree with you. It's most likely they stick with the tandem which means it's another wasted year

Makes me think Byram. Yeah he's on an expiring deal, but he's a RFA, and 97/100 times you get those guys done. What are the odds we are all 3 of the misses?

Who else fits that bill?

So why do you think they suddenly got it right by drafting and developing Skinner? Do you not think there are maybe a dozen backups who are currently better than Skinner that Dustin Schwartz was and is too blind to see?

Not sure. I just typed whatever I was able to hear enough from Bob. I'm most curious about the part where Bob said the player might/isn't having a good relationship with his team.

Bob essentially came out and said it's Soucy

Bob asked about Soucy and Frank said the nucks arent really interested in retaining salary and are trying to unload his contract in full.

Dman I’d have my eye on if I was the Oilers. Zac Jones from the Rangers. Guy is buried because Laviolette is a dinosaur, but he’s only 24 and will be a surefire top 4 D for whoever gets him next. In a bit of a Broberg situation for NY. One of the fastest defenders in the league, puck moving ability. Great buy low candidate in a bad situation.

Bob asked about Soucy
Me too. I can see Soucy, I imagine the whole JT/Petey thing wore down on many on the team, and he has another year left. Having a bad season, but I liked the player in the past. Not sure if he's played the right side or not. NTC, but maybe he wants to come home to the team that beat him last year.

Wouldn't cost much I imagine. Yeah, he's my bet.

I'd prefer Oleksiak personally

I thought this board had already run off people with insanely myopic takes like this. Unbelievable that you actually typed this and hit "post reply."

You know overtime, exists, right? And in the playoffs, get this, it lasts as long as it takes until someone actually scores!
I’m not arguing with your conclusion: we need a better goalie. Everyone agrees, let’s move on.

I’m arguing with the substance of your argument: there is none.

You either don’t understand goaltending or you don’t understand math.

Shots range from 100% stoppable to 0% stoppable and everything in between.

One additional unstoppable shot in a 20shot game means 0.900 goes to 0.850. In your eyes objectively good to objectively bad…. A goalie has no control on that.

What they can do is consistently stop the 20% savable shots 25% of the time… stop the 50:50 shots 70% of the time and so on… you can’t evaluate that on a single game basis. You just can’t.

I probably would as well. Actually, I just want them to sell the farm for a really good top 4 guy, but that won't happen.

But the cost for Soucy is probably a lot less, especially if he wants to exercise his NTC and block a bunch of teams, but not us.

idk much about soucy, but when we play against him, his puck moving seems rather yeeesh to watch.

You're splitting hairs, totally disregarding credible stats, and spewing gibberish. Learn to form a thesis with actual facts instead of hypotheticals you pulled out of your ass.
