Game 1 was tonight for Will Cuylle, and he went out with a bang!

Late in the second looks he instigated a fight with someone, they fought, and then it looks like after they were broken up they got back together and started a SECOND fight with each other :amazed:

Hoping we get find the footage of that one somewhere. Hopefully that doesn't carry a 1 game suspension, he did get a game misconduct for the instigator. Funny thing is, looks like the other guy got an instigator for the second fight? That has to be a first.

Cuylle's team won game one, 3-0.

EDIT - So getting more info, it seems like the other team was egging him and his players on all game with little cheap crap, so he had enough of being poked (don't poke the bear) and dropped the gloves and started giving someone a beating (Reason why he got the instigator), as he was fighting a 3rd man came in and started fighting him so he began fighting the second guy now. Which is why he got a second fighting penalty. Apparently there is an automatic 1 game suspension, but they are going to try and appeal it because he was jumped from behind and had to defend himself(Likely won't win appeal).

Two fights at one time? Not very Gropp like. We’re lucky to have gotten him for Lias who seems mostly interested in sabotaging his own game.

Let's get this guy on the roster!

Depending on how things shake out in training camp, Cuylle is going to get all the chances in the world to be on the 4th line. Not sure they want to go that route in terms of development, but 6'4 and 210 at 20 is going to be hard to ignore, especially since he can skate and has a hard shot.

Wonder if the long term vision on a player like this is similar to Nick Paul.

Othmann and Flint lost game one 6-3. Not a good start as they are the favorites to win.
I just looked at the game summary. It was 2-2 going into the 3rd. Flint scored 38 seconds into the period, but Owen Sound tied it 20 seconds later (Othmann was on the ice). Othmann took 2 check to the head penalties in the 3rd period. Owen Sound scored the GWG 2 seconds after the 2nd penalty ended, then tacked on 2 empty netters.

Othmann ended up -4 as he was on the ice for all 4 3rd period goals against. He has to be more disciplined than that. Hopefully he has a good game tonight and they take care of business.

As someone who goes to museums in every city he visits (internationally as well) I can tell you NYC is indeed special. DC is up there in that category as well.
Lots of cities have great things about them. Very few to none have as wide a range of great things about them as NYC. NONE that is home to an NHL team comes close. There’s a reason the metro area can support three NHL teams.
is it everyone’s cup of tea? Of course not neither is the Grand Canyon. Sure, it’s just a big hole. Nothing special. Hahaha.

So I never really got to respond to this because posting during the week is a futile effort with how accelerated work is:

I always use the disclaimer that I don't hate NY, I'm from here and I may seem or come off like a New York hater. When I say NY isn't special, honestly in the last 10-15 years, other than reputation, there have been like no improvements to the infrastructure or city over all. Look at places like Nashville, Austin, Milwaukee, they've all modernized. I always ask people what makes NY special now, what events, places, etc and they always refer back to nostalgia and pizzerias.

A lot of the ethnic restaurants in NY are available all over the country, microbreweries, etc.

The main museums and Broadway plays will always be there, but I don't see how they're different from other cities. You can find interesting stuff to do in every city. You can barely even go to a concert in Manhattan anymore. The real venues are in Brooklyn, Queens, etc.

Coupled with how expensive, hectic, and the whole "hey we're NY A #1" attitude with no factual evidence that much has improved in the last 10-15 years, it's still a big city, but not special or unique like it once was, especially for small town farm boys from Saskatchewan or NCAA prospects as UFAs.

Karl Henriksson and Frölunda HC) are eliminated. With the Wolf Pack also eliminated, he won't be going to the AHL but there is a, albeit small, possibility Henriksson is recalled to the Rangers to practice with them. His ELC isn't slide eligible anyway.

Is he someone we should concern ourselves ever playing for the Rangers? All I've read was negative reports.

I tend to agree. I had the same mindset while growing up and living in NY but after moving about 8 years ago and traveling to other cities, one big take away is that you can often find the things that NY offers in other cities now without the exorbitant cost of living and inescapable stuff like the filth and crowdedness. In addition, a lot of these cities offer things that NY simply doesn't (like temperate weather and actual nature).

I still love NY and romanticize about it more than it deserves, but I don't think I would ever move back. Luckily my parents still live there and so I can visit and take advantage of some of the things you can't find elsewhere whenever the urge strikes

Posters don't like his low counting stats.
Sweden has liked his game and paired him w elite peers when he was available to Nat'l teams.
Some think he will be more effective on narrower NHL rinks.
Still young.
I am looking forward to his next season, in AHL.

This is generally true, though, I will add that it's not purely a counting stats issue that some of us have with Henriksson. Also, while his game has developed, it hasn't been so dramatic as to solidify his role with Frolunda; his TOI was reduced dramatically over the final month of the regular season and he was even scratched outright. Of course, he did see him role bumped back up for the playoffs and did pretty well in those games, but what he is or isn't is still really unclear. He'll be 21 for most of next year, so age is on his side, though I still question whether the size/skating combo will be too much to overcome (although the point about transitioning to a smaller rink being beneficial is admittedly interesting).
