I'm still laughing at the fact that someone says he's been watching prospects since the 1970s, as if there was decent coverage in those days.
Before these boards, for a long time, almost all we had was Blueshirt Bulletin with prospect stats and Jess R's Prospect Park.
And Hockey News had Junior and Minor League stats, but not Europe or College.
I used to buy both NHL Guide and Hockey Register(Sporting News) every year but of course they only updated between seasons.
THN special issues also had prospect league stats

I wrote a couple articles here (for Hockey's Future) right around 2000. Everything I wrote was just regurgitated from things like THN or the few other legitimate sources we had for guys playing in Europe--I mean, I was just some guy, still a teenager. How could I watch any of these kids? I just looked at stats and used scouting reports and all that. Shortly thereafter we started getting radio streams of things in North America, but you couldn't really scout a guy based on crappy radio.

The hope for Cuylle should be a support role where he can use his size and physicality to create room for his line mates. In that sense he projects to a good spot for this team with higher level skilled players.

He’s going to be someone they need to be patient with.
I agree. Don't sell Cuylle short. Regardless of what line he might play on, he is a leader who likes to drop the gloves in defense of his teammates. Captain of his team, the size and strength of this 20 yr old, with a penchant for laying guys out, would be a welcome addition to any team. And considering how Gallant likes guys, that play like he did,... I'm sure he will find a spot for him. Doesn't hurt that he also has very good hands and a hard shot. He's got some upside.

Prospect Park, I remember following Grachev etc reading that blog

Didn’t he have a really weird way of wording things? Like his sentence structure was really off putting to read at times? Haha those were the days

Actually for print media in the 70’s and 80’s the Hockey News use to do at least somewhat of a job covering hockey prospects. There were also some variety of college and regional hockey print media in the 70’s and 80’s. I use to subscribe to several different things back then. Though it’s world’s better now it really wasn’t an absolute wasteland before the emergence of the internet.

Jess Rubenstein is still around on Twitter. He's a genuinely good person. The catch with him is he gets amped about literally every prospect we have and talks them up like they're sure things.

I find it hard to take a prospect guy seriously who doesn't have hands-on experience. As a former high major DOBO and current consultant, there's just so much more to it than these keyboard warriors can grasp.

There’s some go back a little further and even further than me but hey Rick Middleton? Don Murdoch? Middleton IMO the worst trade the Rangers made in my time following the team. Murdoch if he hadn’t gotten distracted so much by the NYC nightlife might have given Bossy a real run for his money of best goal scorer in the area. Murdoch could flat out score goals in his sleep.

But the Rangers best ever draft choices are Leetch and Lundqvist and maybe a case could be made for Sheshterkin to join them pretty soon.
HL was a 7th rd pick

Murdoch is one of greatest failures …
NYC nightlife has ruined many a career ..

been stuck home recovering from that damn virus
and my clients and partners been leaving me alone

so i had a distracting opportunity to compile the playoff schedule
for round 1 of the Major Junior teams with NYR draftees

all 8 prospects are on playoff teams,
7 series, as one, in W, has Rempe vs Boyko
so up to 7 of 8 could move on to 2nd round,
OR up to 7 of 8 could be eliminated and be free for what might come next

sharing here, should anyone want to track on their own, in Excel, PDF and .csv

Hope you get well soon, it is a nasty disease. Both myself, my wife and my 4 y.o. Daughter all still have lingering long term effects from that Bugger. Not a nice one. Take care!

Henriksson (and Henrik's brother) and Frolunda playing now
Frolunda gonna fall behind 1-3 in a Semi series where they have home ice

If Pack survive the weekend, surpass Bridgeport to make AHL playoffs, we could see him soon
(btw Isles assigned Raty to Bridgeport, he'll be playing to eliminate Pack next 2 days
