FWIW: Oliver Tärnström is finally back on the ice after 6 weeks, for AIK. He never suited up for a game with Hanvikens as AIK kept him on their extended roster while recovering from COVID. That loan just gets weirder and weirder.

Rangers have so much talent in the farm it's embarrassing. They eventually will start trading off smaller defenseman like Jones, Reunanen and perhaps DeAngelo or Lundkvist for extra 1st rounders or a key piece to the big club. I'm thinking more than ever they will keep Buchnevich to expose him to the expansion draft. I don't think they give a crap about losing him. I'm interested in why Kravtsov who by all reports was dominant to start the KHL season has fell off the planet after is injury. Not sure what happened there.

I knew we had a Mora player when I first saw that story. But I guess the questions are about, uh, "Björklöven," which has to be at the upper limit of how Swedish a name can get?

I actually think we need better lunchpail guys. The Rangers have all kinds of skill at forward--Panarin, Zibanejad, Lafreniere, Kakko, Kreider, Buchnevich, Strome, Chytil, Kravtsov. That's a shitload of talent right there. What we don't have as much of is the nitty gritty guys who can do the more unappreciated work that makes the talent we have right now into a great team. We have some guys who could use more development--Lemieux, Howden and Gauthier and some other potential guys like Barron, Richards, Khodorenko, Cuylle, Gettinger and Berard.

To have a great team you need to have a mix of elements. Not everyone is going to score a lot of goals or put up a lot of points and guys who can kill penalties and win puck battles are very important too. St. Louis doesn't win the Cup in 19 without Sundqvist, Barbashev, Maroon, Blais and Sanford controlling the boards and turning over pucks. None of them are great players but they all have size and grit and 200' games. In 20 Tampa does the same thing bringing in Maroon, Goodrow and Coleman. These players provide some size and muscle--they help the pk--they fill holes in the lineup. They keep the pressure on and they're hard to play against.

oh i 100% agree we need better lunchpail guys too. the lunchpail guys in my post i meant to imply they were sort of toothless. we end up with guys that are just there, can do a little bit of everything, but not too much of anything. just journeymen that score a bit in the ahl and some find some homes for stretches on a bottom 6 here or elsewhere, but in the nieves/fogarty/hpwden mold where you wouldn't know they played without a lineup. on top of what i would primarily like to add, the real buzzsaw speed pests i would totally agree we could really use some nastiness. like it looks like we tried to add some aggression in cuylle but that pick terrifies me. a big kid who hasn't flashed much offense, and likes to be physical without taking penalties. i mean i'm not getting at wanting to assemble a goon squad...but that attitude worries me. i could easily see him being a guy who's pretty mediocre as a player and too judicious in being physical which will amount to useless. i hope he pans out - nothing against him, but i'd be much happier with a guy that had a suspension or 3 on his card and needed to be taught to reign it in instead of have that element teased out or skated into every hit focused primarily on not taking a penalty - take the wilson/marchand/tkatchuk approach - if you do something thats a penalty or borderline once or twice every shift they're not gonna call you 13 times a game, it'll be 3 max. and yes i do agree we have enough talent in the cupboard. and while the speed / pest thing is a big thing on my mind because those guys are another type that bring a real different element and can be huge on the pk, i agree we need some more physical presence. but the one thing with that element - at least re this years team and the next year or 2, i'd love to source some vets in the short run. those glue guys that have been on runs i think would be a big locker room add on top of giving us some more bite. i do think barron is going to shock people, i'm extremely high on him - though while he will compete physically i don't think he's going to be much of a crash and banger. i was really hoping maroon might end up here tbh. they're always available, although the prices can be a big crazy - a 1st for goodrow, even the last pick of the draft, seems steep. if you win the cup its well worth it but if you're out in the 2nd round it looks a lot different. in tampas case where they were at i get it, just hope we don't get ahead of ourselves on those kinda moves

I agree with a lot of this. I will say Howden's got lessons in on the job training that he should have gotten for the most part in Hartford. It's not his fault that the Rangers were so thin at forward a couple years ago. I also think a lot of his worse might be behind him now. He does need to get stronger for his size. All that said he might not be a keeper--I do see him becoming a legit NHL player though. I like Lemieux a lot but he does a few things that drive me crazy and he needs to play with more discipline and he's not got a particularly strong hockey IQ. Less forcing plays, less handling the puck and letting others do it--more corner and boards work and more hanging around being a nuisance at the opposition goal crease area. Guys like McKegg and DiGiuseppe should be emergency call ups not permanent players. Really it takes a mindset IMO to play a forward checking role bottom 6 role in the NHL. Pride in your 200' game--an ability to play physical and/or aggressive hockey--to do the dirty jobs like penalty killing and to win board battles--having someone to fight fairly well--maybe not often but when necessary. Faceoffs. They are all things that factor in.

Edstrom had a secondary assist, +1, 2 shots, 2 hits, played 11+. Second consecutive game with a point. He's at 1-4-5 in 18 after going 4-5-9 in 46 last year. TOI up by 2 minutes, and he averaged less than one SOG per game and now is averaging 1.5 SOG per game. Also was -7 and now is +5. Hopefully he can pot a few more goals.

Henriksson was listed as the 1C but didn't get 1C action. He played 9:42, had 2 shots, and was -2. For the year he's an ugly 0-4-4 in 21, -6, with 10 PIM and 25 SOG. Coach likes him, though!

really appreciate the updates!
I’m not gonna sit here and say I’ve watched Henriksson but you could have as good all around game as Patrice Bergeron but if you’re putting up those numbers woof woof .
I mean not even a single goal in 20 plus games?
