I think Miller is way too friendly lol, he’s such a gentle giant and I’m sure he’ll develop some nastiness but his personality is just that of such a nice guy. I think there’s a 99% chance Laf is the next captain, he has that Crosby-like work ethic and mindset, has an edge and seems like a big personality as well

Lafreniere does not seem like a big personality, whatsoever. Not sure what you're seeing.

Miller seems to be...Intelligent. Serious. Mature.

Kreider and Zibanejad are good role models. Kreider has been looking out for guys in our locker room for quite a while and helping the Russian guys in particular adapting. He has worked damn hard for years.
Nobody had an issue with Mika when he was putting up great numbers. His leadership was never considered a major negative till he started dealing with COVID.

Why should Kreider be the one singled out for not fighting Ritchie? Rooney was right beside the big asshole. Bitetto and Lemieux have scrapped with plenty of big opponents. Is it literally because Kreider is strong and has been here longest?

You get lots of different types of leader. Yzerman and Lidstrom wouldn't have been dropping the gloves whenever somebody was out of line, McCarty would do it. Sure Toews might slash his opponents, but if the going got tough Brouwer or Burish or Shaw would be the ones expected to step up.

Zibanejad and Kreider are perfectly suitable players for our young guys to be around.
If you want a tougher style to our play in general, fine, but blame Quinn. He is dead against retaliation from what I can see. Certainly hasn't done Smith or ADA any favours to stand up for their goalie or their teammates.
Couldn’t disagree more. You need guy who ON THE ACTUAL ICE play with an edge and take no shit. Is Charlie McAvoy a goon? He jumped in immediately. Kreider stands there and CONSTANTLY is on camera whispering and giggling with the opposition. During the game the other team is the enemy. Period! no Rock Paper Scissors
No friendly talk
Kill them! Then afterwards in the tunnel post game chit chat all you want

Goon!!!!

And watch terrible leader Crosby joking about with Fox after his buddy was in a fight! :sarcasm:
If I was a penguin I would have been pissed off. I know that I had a problem watching Fox do it too. But what do you expect? That’s what we’ve become!

He's very loud, and when you watch at the end of games where they lift their sticks at center ice he's always laughing and talking to guys whereas the likes of Kakko just stand there awkwardly lol. In instagram videos where they film them walking onto the ice he's always screaming and making funny noises.

Kakko is a hardcore introvert. Lafreniere is not a big personality because he made a funny noise in a video.

Someone needs to step up, and it will prolly be a kid.

Remember San Jose floundering with Marleau and Thornton? Then Pavelski stepped in and that whole team acted differently. Now that Pavelski is gone that team is in shambles.

Your keyboard seems to have the CAPS LOCK sticking at times. You may want to get that checked OUT.

You can add vets, but they have to be good. Otherwise you just guys like Michael Haley

What vets under the cap space they had should they have tried to get and which youth is then not playing?

Do those youths not playing require waivers? Do those vets require just one year or multi year deals?

I don't know, I just don't get the feeling this is a lack of vets thing, it's more the vets they have need to play well thing.

I would like to see an HF Scholar come up with the number of times different teams lost close games to the Bruins over the last 10 years and were immediately followed up by this kind of thread about toughness and leadership on their board.

I'd settle for HFNYR settling on a definition/description of leadership that isn't basically 'clone prime Messier'...

The opportunity is there. will one of these guys take it. maybe not a dark horse, but I think Buch could do it, needs to shoot more though.

The COVID recovery thing is still speculation. Until we know for certain. He’s always been Uber talented and also SOFT

The player who had the highest goal per game rate in the NHL last year is SOFT. No one in the NHL is soft. They all work their asses off and take years of physical punishment. He's had multiple concussions and never shies away from contact, but to the guy sitting on the sofa he's soft.

If only he were Tanner Glass.

His constant use of caps does it for me:laugh:
