Kaako and Blais were good. Everyone else was bad.

Ziba was invisible. Kreider getting the tip in just to spite me because he was worthless this game.

Tyler Wall hopefully will be ready maybe in like a 2014-15 Talbot introduction this year because Georgiev is going to be out of the league after this season if not sooner.

Just stop being a %$%$% and call up Kravstov and dump Hunt. But we know that won't happen.

Especially coming off a full summer off. They play Saturday and Monday and then not agin until Thursday. No reason Igor couldn't play tonight and tomorrow and Georgiev get Saturday's game. It's galaxy brain shit like that.

Georgiev is terrible too so the decision should be even easier. This organization and I'm guessing Allaire's love of Georgiev is baffling to me. He's terrible.

I can accept not wanting to play Igor on a back-to-back (though I disagree with it), but why not play Igor against a division rival instead of a Western Conference team? Just because it's the home-opener?

Ok, so Gallant's job starts now. This game should have made quite a few things crystal clear for him. If he and Kelly are the pros I hope they are they take the axe to some old NYR hobby horses and annihilate them once and for all.

There is FAR too much internal organizational politics (even organizational traditional politics) influencing what's going on on the ice and team selection. Gallant needs to put an end to all that and create a functional Team. Quinn (old management) tried to put square pegs in round holes and if this game was anything it was more of that nonsense.

Even if this game was annoying it also highlighted well known issues beyond any internal gaslighting or spin doctoring.

Takeaways:
-Gallant playing Hunt/Tinordi backfired royally when the Caps didn’t engage
- too many penalties
-Too many guys still not wanting to shoot unless it’s perfect
-Georgiev is bad
-I expected the D to be bad early with a new system. And they were very bad
-the top 6 had a very Quinn-esque game. No life from any of them. They were soft and that’s going to need to change quickly

It’s just 1 game. Get Lundkvist and Gaut in there tomorrow. LGR

The top two lines aren't the right combos. I dont know what the combos need to be, but these aren't it.

Kakko and Chytil need to be a unit.
Goodrow or Gauth could be tried with Panarin and Strome. not sure.

And zibby has no chemistry with anyone other than Buchnevich.

Yup, Igor should've been in net tonight and if you really care about giving him the home opener then start him B2B. Georgiev playing the Caps while Igor plays the Stars shouldn't happen.

Pretty shocked to see that the sky is falling in here

not really. don't even care they lost so much as to not at least have Reaves fight Wilson? really? He's making small talk with
Ovechkin?

So what was the point of these moves if you don't at least have your enforcer get in the face of Wilson or another one of their stars?

So they brought in all this physicality... only to retaliate if another team takes a liberty with one of our players?

gimme a break

Hunt is a servicable 13 forward. Keeping Tinordi over Krav makes even less sense then it did 48 hours ago

You don’t dress a tough lineup if you’re not going to play a tough game. You don’t start your backup on opening night. You don’t play a static large box against a diamond PP with a big shot at the point as well as the circle.

Putrid coaching throughout.

And the players might wanna show up too.

Kreider scored but he wasn't good. I'll give a slight pass since he's playing his off wing. But Mika was playing his natural position. That's unacceptable.

Is anyone else worried that Lindgren is.....off?

His injury end of last season was never quite revealed and his camp honestly stunk. If he regresses into the player that the Bruins thought he was, or even his first year with the Rangers, that's going to domino the top four.

Not sure why you play your backup against the division rival in the season opener instead of your stater, but not an NHL coach.

Only caught snippets but seemed to be creating chances without much finish. Blair and Kakko looked pretty good.

Giving up 5 is never a good sign.
I’m guessing Gallant thought it was going to be a rugged game and didn’t want his star goalie to be injured in a scrum in front of his net.
Gallant should check with his players next time.

If I was the coach I’d be changing lines going into tomorrow. Kreider at RW won’t work, which is the least shocking thing on earth They’re gonna pay someone to take that deal off their hands sooner rather than later if he’s gonna be a 6.5 million dollar 3rd liner

Chytil would be moved up, they’re so lacking at RW with Kravstov blowing up I might move Goodrow to 3C and Strome to RW on that second line

This needs to happen tomorrow:

Igor in for Georgiev
Lundkvist in for Tinordi
Gauthier in for Hunt

It's only one game but we blew chunks

Move some lines around too

Laf Mika Kakko
Bread Strome Blais
Kreider Chytil Gauthier
Goodrow Rooney Reaves

Sit Miller, play Hajek in his place. Can't be worse

Igor

They have Jones and Lundkvist, both of whom are incredibly promising and probably should have been in the lineup tonight.

Hunt is a dime a dozen. Best hope is he becomes a bargain bin gem like John Mitchell back a decade ago (damn I feel old) or even Paul Carey in 2017-18.

Kravstov has the potential to be a 40-60 point player that now the Rangers will have to sell .75 cents on the dollar.

Charles Barkley dons hockey gear to take shots from Gretzky

Jack Johnson scores on a breakaway

What in the blue hell happened tonight?

Its one game but this is really a problem for us when a game that we should really be getting up for is just us going through the motions. I do not like our lines, and i do not like Kravtsov off this team, i still believe our best lines are

Laf Zib Kakko
Panarin Strome Kravtsov
Kreider Chytil Goodrow
Blais Barron Reaves/Hunt

Lindgren Trouba
Miller Fox
Jones Schneider
