I agree

Someone mentioned this in the game thread so apologies to whoever it is but he’s looks like he’s out of shape

He was in De Beauty League or whatever they call it in Minnesota (stupid name IMO) so he didn't pull a Brendan Smith. Maybe the injury is worse than led on. It wasn't a concussion but orbital bone I think? Shoulder maybe?

I know it means nothing but when is the last time we saw someone take a penalty on a delayed penalty on their own upcoming pp?

The top two lines aren't the right combos. I dont know what the combos need to be, but these aren't it.

Kakko and Chytil need to be a unit.

Goodrow or Gauth could be tried with Panarin and Strome. not sure.

And zibby has no chemistry with anyone other than Buchnevich
.

Yup. Kakko and Chytil (who also looked strong but quite alone on his line tonight) go very well together. Kreider on LW would be a good fit for them, only problem is that that line quickly could become the 3rd line when they (Kakko and Chytil) deserve much more minutes, because Strome.

Drury and Sather shat the nest shipping Buch out for "culture change" (nothing against Blais). Zib looked very lost tonight. Maybe Kravtsov could have helped there, but he doesn't seem to be the most stable dependable type so maybe it's best he goes too along with some remaining deadwood/poor fits.

And it's funny Kreider got praise for being physical tonight, but his overall game suffered as a result, same (very noticeably) for Laf.

I don't wanna be that guy that keeps bringing up previous things but this lineup really does have a Buch sized hole in it.

Absolutely. A large part of the reason for dealing Buchnevich was not to block ice time for Kakko and Kravtsov. That strategy was already questionable enough because neither of those players had proven anything. It's even more questionable when it's only Kakko left. By questionable I mean terrible.

P.S. - and I like Blais...a lot. But I'm thinking we could have got him for Kravtsov instead. Just sayin'.

The team said they liked Blais upside and I would reckon he’s gonna get a chance to prove it with how thin they are at RW

Buch would not have changed the outcome of this game one bit

He was their best penalty killer last season, wasn't he? The Caps PP going 3/6 is why they won the game. So...you don't know that.

Buchnevich was traded for cap purposes first and foremost. Guys like Kakko and Kravstov getting a chance for more ice time was just a side effect

Honestly this is way over blown. Last year opening game we lost 4=0. This year we lose 5-1. Its way more than one guy. It is the team and type players. We put little pressure on the opposition all night. Meanwhile we get pressed and turn the puck over. Its only one game so we will see.

Buch wasn't shipped out for a culture change, he was shipped out because of cap and his buddy Kreider priced him out of town.

The two aren't tied. It's not like they were trying to ship him out to send a message to these guys.

He was going to be traded to Edmonton for the pick that would have been Zegras a few years ago.

I’m spending time with my family this week so I could only watch the last 15 minutes of the second period. That was more than enough.

At least my grandson scored a goal in his soccer game.

It will be better tomorrow. It has to be.

I thought Panarin actually looked really good.

He was physical, backchecked, and had some really nice passes botched.

I just think he was trying to pass too much at times. When Zibanejad and Strome have their games where they decide to call in sick, he has to just take it to the net.
