Caps lose Shatty win the Cup. Blues lose Shatty win the cup. I see a trend?
Pretty sure it is, otherwise why the hell wouldnt they??
Presumably they shopped Shattenkirk for a 7th and no one bit?
Still think we’ll see a trade cause we’ve got too many forwards but now a move isn’t forced.
Thwn I think thats a bad move by Gorton, not shedding two instead of one.It isn’t. It goes against Vancouver.
They only get hit with the retained money.
Don't think there's any limits on the number of buy-outs, is there? Besides three 2nd window buy-outs over the course of the CBA.They had 2.
The Vancouver one isn’t levied against them.

I guess he still could?
This offseason they went two steps forward, one step back.

Maybe 3-4 steps forward and possibly 1 back.
I feel like Shattenkirk was bought out for some unforeseen reason, no sense to buy him and not Smith or StaalHe can.

He does help the last year of the Tank though! If staal plays significant minutes it’s 2 steps back
I mean who wouldn't mind a LW depth of Panarin and Kreider for a few months? Panarin faces opposing top lines and defenders and Kreider feasts on lesser obstacles in his way. There is no money for CK and what he is going to want . This just gives JG more time to get a fair offer. One would think CK should put up really really good numbers by the TDL. If by some minor miracle we are in a cemented playoff position by then and they don't trade CK by then so be it but I doubt it. Names we will be lucky to get a 3rd rounder for otherwise just keep him and say bye bye after the season.
That’s what I’m talking about.Trade kreider, finish bottom 5 and let’s get a future 1C in the 2020 draft...
I feel bad for LeMew and ADA, who will get nothing bridge deals likely. Sucks not to have negotiating leverage. Also, some of you might be right. We might pull of a trade for cap space. Just to secure cap for negotiations with ADA and Lemieux. But more importantly to free up another spot in the line-up. (looking badly at Namestnikov ... I feel bad too though, no offense. Same goes for Shat, poor dude)

Sure there is, I explained it in a previous response to you. This fixes the cap issue this year, and really only leaves dead cap NEXT season, when we have plenty of money coming off the books and likely only Strome, Fast, and Georgiev to re-sign (potentially ADA and Lemieux). You can argue for alternative approaches but it's not hard to see the logic in this move.I feel like Shattenkirk was bought out for some unforeseen reason, no sense to buy him and not Smith or Staal
I've never heard that before.I think it’s a limit of 3 at any given time.
They gave DG and now Shattenkirk. They can buy out one more.
