Looking forward to seeing a NON canadian team

Rangers always worries me. They got some very good players and if our D are not careful, they'll get burn

Panarin, Ziba, Fox and Laf. One thing Rangers have done in the last 15 years is get good goaltending
Hank is not there anymore but Shesterkin is a jam

Their D also improved

Can I ask you why you think Ritchie will struggle to keep pace? Thornton was effective on that line.

I also think the last line is funny because I don't know if a single player has benefited more from their talented linemates over their career than Hyman.

Rob Brown, Kevin Stevens, Kunitz are to name few

Even with the Leafs Hoglund benefited from playing with Mats

Hyman is a workhorse and every line and team needs a player like him. Being able to play with top players is a skill itself. Not every player gets that.

I worry about Ritchie on top line. I am not sure if he has the game IQ or smarts to play with top end players.

What you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) with Ritchie..

He is good from far, but far from good.

Your first impression of Ritchie's deficiencies might be your lasting impression of what you would like to see him improve on, as the things you would like to see him change are the things that hold him back, and have followed him his entire career to date.

To be fair we have to give him some time to acclimatize himself to the Leafs and his new teammates to see where he fits best, but if you're expecting him to find another gear speed wise, or another level of consistency in compete level and urgency then you might be disappointed, particularly when he is compared to Hyman on that line whom he is attempting to replace.

Ricthie is going to struggle to keep pace with AM and MM, but he will add a element of physicality and net front presence and create more time and space for his linemates by using his size, strength and physical presence to his advantage. He should be able to contribute some offensively because of the opportunities his talented linemates will provide him.

It's always been his issue and probably always will. He's good around the net, he does have some decent skill and *can* hit hard, but he looks very lazy on the forecheck and takes a lot of penalties.
To me it seems the things that hold him back are 90% mental, and the rest is all in his head.

I can't imagine a better script for a young man to put it all together and write the next chapter of his career.

It's all there for the taking, if only the penny drops.

Key dirt for us sire. We need these harder players on the D. Real badly. The rangers is a pummeling team again, they no soft, like we is no soft neither. We got our identity back during the summer trades. We hard now and nobody will even stare at us again sire. That's also key dirt right there.

Looks like Holl is back in which means the 2nd pair will be dominated again.

Was Liljegren smoking or drinking sire....? That late night dirt certainly a hard one. Troubleling for some of us, but some real vets can handle it hard. Y'all already know some of our youngsters must get that party going on and still kick it, what! Learn bout that party life and how to get them ladies.

Liljegren was way better then Holl has been all season.

Excited to see how the lines look tonight. Also relieved to finally be playing against an American club!

I think the Tweet meant that Liljegren was kept out on the ice late -- after the other players had left -- as opposed to out late last night or anything like that.

Looks like he's not playing against the Rags.

One thing to watch, Sandin and Dermott have been dominant at 5v5 so far this season. 100% GF%, and 65%-73% xGF%. They are obviously facing weaker competition - but even with that taken into account, they are both off to a phenomenal start.

Also of note, Rielly-Brodie are also at 100% GF% at 5v5. Justin Holl is at 0%, and Muzzin at 23.92%. :/ Muzzin's xGF% is strong, Holl is the worst among the D core at 5v5.

Honestly, I am not sure what the rush is to get Holl back into the lineup. Should've given Liljegren a couple of games to see how that went.

Updated Lineups with updated GSVA scores....
