Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Nylander
Ritchie - Kampf - Kase
Spezza - Engvall - Simmonds

could be good
If Ritchie doesn’t start producing soon I like this. But I’m predicting a Gordie Howe hat-trick tonight for him.

Ritchie was often on a line with Kase with the Ducks that year he scored 20. Lots of assists. Seemed a good fit.

Engvall makes the 4th line a little faster.

Soon? It's been 2 games. Maybe we should give him a dozen or so with Matthews before dropping him down. Tavares and Marner try to be too cute. Matthews puts it on the net. Ritchie could feast off rebounds. Let's be a little patient with the guy. He's still new to the team and hasn't even seen a minute of ice with one of the top players in the game.

I really hope they are not rushing matthews.

although after this game i dont think they pay till thursday/friday (?) so that will give plenty of time to assess how his wrist feels after a game but still....

How dare you use this type of offensive language on this board!!! We will not stand for it! :sarcasm:

I'd say they've been cautious more than anything considering the original time line for his return. However, everyone heals different.

Rangers have done a nice job bringing in some really talented players. This should be a fun game. Leafs win in OT.

I'd like to see more of Ritchie and more from Ritchie.

My first impression is that he has all the tools. I would like to see him skate a bit faster, dig a bit harder and play with a lot more urgency in his game.

He seems like the kind of player the other team should always be aware of whenever he's on the ice, and I'm not seeing that yet.

I'm thinking of John LeClair and the Legion of Doom. Matthews is his Lindros.

What you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) with Ritchie..

He is good from far, but far from good.

Your first impression of Ritchie's deficiencies might be your lasting impression of what you would like to see him improve on, as the things you would like to see him change are the things that hold him back, and have followed him his entire career to date.

To be fair we have to give him some time to acclimatize himself to the Leafs and his new teammates to see where he fits best, but if you're expecting him to find another gear speed wise, or another level of consistency in compete level and urgency then you might be disappointed, particularly when he is compared to Hyman on that line whom he is attempting to replace.

Ricthie is going to struggle to keep pace with AM and MM, but he will add a element of physicality and net front presence and create more time and space for his linemates by using his size, strength and physical presence to his advantage. He should be able to contribute some offensively because of the opportunities his talented linemates will provide him.

It's always been his issue and probably always will. He's good around the net, he does have some decent skill and *can* hit hard, but he looks very lazy on the forecheck and takes a lot of penalties.

Last year he had 11 minor penalties. This year 1 in 3 games. If you want to go back a few seasons, then sure.

I'm thinking like tonight's the night he get in some dirt  Matthews gittin back will raise everybody's spirits and get them fools going. Hard. We might also see a fight/fights tonight. The Rangers have a couple of fools who throw with the best of them. Our gangstas, Ritchie, Bunting, Simmonds, Muzzin etc gotta be ready for that action jackson (just like carl weathers was in his best, in action jackson (1988). I recommed to watch the 2006 film (Rocky Balboa), concerning the Matthews comeback for us tonight.

Can I ask you why you think Ritchie will struggle to keep pace? Thornton was effective on that line.

I also think the last line is funny because I don't know if a single player has benefited more from their talented linemates over their career than Hyman.
