Off 2 Cups. GMs will associate the "this is a guy you win with" tag with him and pay for it. But where is the $4.5M from? That's more than the $3-3.5M I've seen people throwing around.

Fast is a fine player, but we were able to slot a bargain-bin no name in Blackwell in his role to similar, if not better results. Fast is obviously a more dependable and versatile forward than Blackwell, but it's not like he was used as a defensive specialist in his last year here. Let's say he's on our third line rather than with Panarin and Strome; I don't think he has the kind of offensive creativity or playmaking ability that I would want from a guy playing with the likes of Kravstov or Chytil. For what it's worth, I don't think Goodrow is a good stylistic complement to them either.

Carp and Brooks are really all there is. Shayna has some good articles about players and advanced stats as well, but it's not like it used to be. I'm certainly not subscribing to LoHud to read about Rangers articles in Florida from a metro paper when that's all I'm interested in reading.

Goodrow was a must for me this off-season. He’s going to be overpaid so be prepared but nevertheless a must.

I do believe it will be minimum 4x4. So again be prepared. But winning 2 Cups and being the guy trusted to lock down tight games in doing so will get you paid. This is a copy cat league and the Rangers are desperate for players like this. Quite the opposite of what we’re used to. Now we’ve got all the skill in the world but we need some guys like this.
