GDT: Rangers 2019 Training Camp Thread: Part II

yeah I think that is very likely...Kravtsov will start in hartford and we'll try to pass 1 of nieves or mckegg thru waivers with the other being the 13th forward...and thats how we get down to 13 guys to start the year.

I don't think Kravtsov will spend more than 1/2 a season down there but to start the year it makes sense and is the easiest option...

was just checking his DOB and unfortunately he would be eligible for the WJC if he was 8 days younger if still in the AHL. but that option doesn't exist

Im fairly certain Chytil is a lock to start with kreider and Kakko that’s all.

Buchy is locked on the top line too. Quinn has said don’t read into any lines in games right now.

He’s probably trying to get real looks at guys like Howden and Andersson with talent to see how they’ve improved.

I think Lemieux probably goes in for Panarin tomorrow who I don’t think plays.

Raddysh will probably go in for Smith imo

Could anyone look worse than smith did in that game Wednesday? Embarrassing got smacked in the mouth 3 times for good measure. Looked miserable every time the camera was on him.

Was Panarin scheduled to play tomorrow? I can't imagine they would even bother risking injury if he left the last one with sometime very minor.

Yeah, I think the top 6 is locked in at least to start.

Panarin-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Kreider-Chytil-Kakko

Then you have a bunch of players competing for bottom 6 slots. Andersson, Howden, Strome, Fast, Namestnikov, Lemieux, Kravtsov is already 7 who should be on the roster. Then you also have McKegg, Nieves, Lettieri, Di Giussepe who all have a legit shot.

Plus Smith who will most likely be on the roster as a 7d/13F hybrid.

It's pretty crowded down there. Normally you'd think Kravtsov could be sent to the AHL, but I think they might wanna keep him in the NHL even if he's not going to play daily - after Quinn's comments about every situation being different with the kids and some kids can go down and handle it and others benefit more from being on the NHL team and coaches and stuff. Krav being Russian would most likely benefit from being on the Rangers and around all the Russians on the roster instead of in Hartford, even if it means not playing every game.

I don't think so on Strome. Quinn talked about him being able to play C or W and how he can use that flexibility to let the kids try and grab a C role.

This. Camp and preseason is not to just evaluate for day 1. It also to evaluate certain possibilities that could arise during some point and other less likely situations.

It was mentioned on here that he was on the injured list prior to the last preseason game which he was expected to play in but ended up not playing. No official sources, and nothing serious even if true. I believe @Oh Baby! mentioned it *shrug*

I like Quinn blowing out some trash early.

Let’s get thru this weekend then make some more cuts for next week.

I’d expect of guys not going to make the team out of camp Rykov Kravtsov Reunanen Jones Lettieri DiGiuseppe Haley Shesterkin Keane to be with us thru most of next week.

The others probably gone by Monday.

You could flip guys on the 3rd and 4th lines around all day but those 6 will be it.

I think this is pretty set in stone at this point. I love the team. Plenty of options in Hartford to use as call ups led by Kravtsov Nieves Rykov Lindgren and Shesterkin

Really like the depth.

The only possible difference, Kovy, I think is first the possibility that Kravtsov makes the team.

He hasn't forced his way on yet, but there are preseason games to come for him. Especially if Panarin misses any time.

Also as others have noted, NYR would probably prefer Andersson or Howden centering the first line in Hartford to the 4th on the Rangers. We can let McKegg do that.
